Shiny hair advice?

So I've been watching Friends re-runs on Netflix and my envy of Jennifer Aniston's hair is rather overwhelming.

How is her hair so soft looking and shiny?! It's like silk! Obviously Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow also have great looking hair but Aniston's is particularly gorgeous. Is it just joyful genetics?!

I have thick, unpleasant, coarse hair which is generally bushy and has never been shiny but is now less so since going grey.

Any tips to shine this coarse nightmare up? I look like a unloved dog 🤦‍♀️

Hope others can help because the only thing I’ve found close to it is how my hair looks after a keratin treatment at the hairdressers.
I think they must just have people to do an amazing blow dry before every shoot. It just looks so sleek doesn’t it?

@Claudia84 I've never had a keratin treatment because of the cost but now you've made me wonder if I should just go for it. How long do the results last?
Yes! So sleek! I guess they must have people on hand to tease every strand. It's always so perfect!

You might want to check out the ColorWow product line. I use their stuff for shine and it is very good.

It lasts about three months or a bit longer but I’ve had another one recently which isn’t keratin but a really hydrating one by a brand called Lakme (because the hairdresser couldn’t get the usual stuff due to supplier issues) and it supposedly can last up to six months! Time will tell..
The thing is - they are really good but to get the glassy shiny look you still need to do the blow dry and a little bit with the straighteners.
I get it done inconsistently when I can’t handle the frizz any more (and when I’ve saved the money) and it does make a difference (I tend to just wash and let it air dry for day to day and it’s much more manageable).

The best results I’ve had at home is through using the olaplex 6. I wet my hair when I was bathing the dc, put this in my hair after it and tied it up with a scruchie. The next morning I showered and it was like silk. I’ve used it a couple of times since then and had good results but that first use was particularly brilliant. I also use Moroccan oil after every wash.

I’ve got my second ever keratin treatment booked for the Autumn. It really does leave the hair in the Shiniest condition and the effects last for several months. I was really impressed which is why I’m going again.

I use mane & tail shampoo and conditioner yes it was originally made for horses but now it is sold in other hair supplies and I'm sure I read somewhere that Jennifer Aniston herself uses this but dont know how true it is. I also use olaplex 6 before drying which is expensive but does go a long way you only need a tiny amount

Ooooh, some excellent suggestions here! Am looking into them now. Thank you all! 😊

You see I didn't rate the keratin treatment. I had to wash hair daily as it makes your hair quite greasy and it knackered my hair over time. Watching this thread with interest as I hate my hair. Used to love how shiny it was as a teen ☹️
