Talk to me about brows

Hello What do I need? I’ve got sparse brows. I never really pluck them. They just don’t grow much. They are also lighter than my hair colour. I sometimes pencil them in but I would like a more permanent option. What do I need? The micro blading looks pretty harsh. Is there another option? Can anyone recommend somewhere in London/south east?

Microblading can look amazing if done properly. It doesn’t have to look harsh. I’m in London and use El at Perfect Definition - have a look at her website and Instagram as she has lots of examples of natural looking brows including on fair hair.

For a less permanent option you can have your brows dyed - it will help add a bit to your eyebrows as the dye will pick up all the little lighter hairs and make them show more.

Some examples of her work here.

Start with getting them tinted, it makes a really big difference to how they look and don't have to be harsh at all! It can make them appear fuller because very fair hairs are now incorporated into the brow, mine are naturally very sparse and it gives me extra to work with! After getting it done at a salon a few times I do it myself now. Micro blading can look good but there are some horror stories out there!

Ok thanks for tips. Will start with tinting then take a look at the micro blading. Thanks for recommendation!

Maybe look into brow lamination, this can be coupled with tinting to give fuller fluffier look.

My eyebrows are pale too (and were plucked into non existence in the 90's), and I finally got them microbladed in April after bottling it for years because I didn't want the black electrical tape look. It transformed my face and I love them - I don't even need to put makeup on them any more Smile

I went to Sian Dellar and can't recommend her enough; not cheap, but I'm choosy about who gets to stick razor sharp blades in my face.

LyndaMcLynda · 21/08/2021 11:53

I have HD brows and I love them - they tint them skin as well as the hair so they last longer and the gaps are filled.

Sorry forgot to post a link (or any helpful information at all ConfusedGrin); Sian Dellar is on Harley Street at www.permanentmakeup-specialist.com/

I have fairly fair brows with not a lot going on. I get them threaded or waxed and tinted, the tinting makes more hair show up so they look fuller. I’d start with a tint and shape. Loads of beauticians do it, there will be plenty near you. I prefer the feel of a wax but threading is more precise.

Ooh thank you. I think I’m in my mid life phase where I have no clue about these things but I am well aware of how good eyebrows can help! (I’ve always posted on saggy jowls too if anyone has any non surgical recs….)

You could try powder/ ombré brows rather than microblading as that’s more about recreating the look of them being a little more filled in rather than building the brow as such. Search on IG for powder brows so you can see the difference. I love mine.

I had mine micro bladed four weeks ago which was a huge step for me and I like a low-key look. I have to say I wish I’d had it done years ago. It doesn’t look harsh, just groomed and rather wonderful (I think!)

TheVolturi · 21/08/2021 19:43

I wish I could afford this! My brows are so spare and I'm really dark so it looks odd. I don't wear much makeup, my brows are the main thing I have to do, pencil carefully.

Me too, sparse brows but I'm brunette, I have to draw them in and its such a pain. Can't afford microblading thoughSad

I feel your pain op. I plucked mine in the 90s and they don’t grow anymore, they have also thinned massively with age. Takes me about 15 minutes a day to draw them on! Tempted by microblading but I’ve seen some awful horror stories too. I have a huge scar through one too, just to make matters worse

Durbeyfield · 21/08/2021 20:31

Save up for micro blading. I’m brunette but had very sparse light brows. Pencilling them in wasn’t working.

ginghamstarfish · 21/08/2021 21:13

I use Refectocil brow tint, works great.

minipie · 21/08/2021 21:19

Rapid Brow gel! Much to my surprise, it actually works - my brows have grown much thicker and darker from using it. It did take a few weeks to kick in so you have to persevere but I no longer feel like I need to use eyebrow pencil most days. I still use pencil if I want a more polished look, but not just to give me more brow, iyswim.

I have friends who’ve had (top end) microblading, it doesn’t look natural enough for me. Plus there’s the couple of weeks of scabbing and being careful about washing, at the start and then it doesn’t last all that long. That put me off.
