Looking for a tea dress or very similar size 18 classic style - where are all the classics? Next day delivery

I'm having a bit of a nightmare!

Trying to find a dress for a thing on Monday. Usually Next are my go to but they are having weird issues with their next day delivery options apparently (that they are in denial about!) ordered from M&S but I'm worried the delivery won't work as they apparently are now using bloody Hermes despite saying on sm that they don't.

I much prefer dpd delivery wise

The other issue I'm having is style wise as the online retailers that use dpd tend to be more "modern" ones and I am a 5'2" size 18 Apple shape 49 year old and quite frankly the current fashions would look hideously frumpy on me and I absolutely would NOT feel comfortable and confident in them.

I need a tea dress or wrap dress or CLASSIC shift dress style.

No puffy sleeves or frills or smocking or otherwise baggy and frumpy styling (frankly I don't think they even suit the slim young things but fashion can be weird like that!)

I'll try and post links/pics of the kind of thing I'm looking for, I'm even considering Shock Amazon but I've never ordered clothes from them as they can be so hit and miss on size/fit and reliability of quality.

Not that I'm looking for super high quality but I don't want something that looks cheap.

Also willing to consider skirt or trousers and top outfit but again classic styling please.

Hoping you guys who are the experts can help

As I say preferably next day delivery with dpd. I'm going dizzy here trying to figure this out and fed up with looking at puff sleeves and frills!

Which retailers should I be considering style wise?

I really need help here ASAP

Have you tried Joanie and Collectif?

Both sell lovely flattering dresses.

hellbunny.com/4292-a-hell-bunny-eternity-50s-dress.html

Vivien of Holloway have excellent and responsive customer service - if you contacted them, I’m pretty certain they would post in the morning and do special delivery for you. If you do order with them, you’d need to measure your waist and would probably be a 20 or 22 as it’s vintage sizing.

Disfordarkchocolate · 20/08/2021 20:07

That's annoying about Joanie because they have lovely dresses.

Have you tried Dancing Leopard? www.dancingleopard.co.uk/collections/wrap-dresses

I’d seen them on SilkFref and wasn’t sure about what the quality would be like but I was really impressed. They were lovely quality… super flattering and went up to an 18. I bought the Olivera dress and love it. I used the dlsb video on Facebook to wrap it slightly differently tho and felt really lovely wearing it. I’m not a dress person but this really made me reconsider! Next day delivery too x

M&S and click and collect. Usually next day. Rather than delivery have it delivered to a store. I have my orders delivered to a simply food store.

I was going to say John Lewis as well but seen you don’t live near a store.

The dress you’ve ordered is a seasalt branded one I think.

IGoWalkingAfterMidnight · 20/08/2021 20:10

Popsy also have superb customer service and I’m sure if you contacted them they would arrange a special delivery too:

Disfordarkchocolate · 20/08/2021 20:13

Revival Retro look pretty good, don't know about delivery as they are still on my wish list. Collectif have been very quick with their deliveries.

Kaleidoscope? Next day delivery if you order before 11pm. I am not a dress person but lots of wrap dresses that looked "Classic" if you put that in the search and they stock brands like Phase Eight, Seasalt and Monsoon.

HelenHywater · 20/08/2021 20:49

I got an email from Boden saying they have tea dresses now. I don't know if they or John Lewis (who stock Boden) do next day delivery?

HelenHywater · 20/08/2021 20:52

Asos stock Whistles and do next day delivery

robotcollision · 20/08/2021 20:53

Nobody's Child do the best tea dresses. They are cheap and ethical. Rare mix. Here's one.

robotcollision · 20/08/2021 20:54

If they can't do next day delivery, M&S do a small range of Nobody's Child dresses too.

Graphista · 20/08/2021 21:00

Boden next working day ie Monday

Nobody's child cut off is 3pm
