How to hide bloat/mum tum?

So after being congratulated today on my non-existant pregnancy for the 2nd time in a few months, I've realised that what I thought was flattering is actually not!

I have no idea how to dress myself to hide this - I live in jeans and t shirts but do like a nice dress too.

High wasited jeans/trousers are my fave but always seem to highlight the belly.

No matter what I try on, it's always there Blush

Also should add, am 5ft 7 and around 12.5stone. A stone heavier than I was last year.

After 2 big babies and c sections, the pouch just won't disappear. I suspect there is still some muscle separation which doesn't help.

Check out @lottiedrynan on Instagram. Her Tummy diaries are quite good and she loves a dress.

Take a look at the Every Mother app. You have to pay but 10 minutes of her exercises a day has sorted out my stomach - I wasn't expecting much but have been so impressed.

I've just lost a stone and my stomach is a lot better. I've been living in shirt dresses and find high waisted Spanx leggings good for nights out.

I'll have a look for those, thanks! And congratulations on losing a stone, I could do with that!

Just finding it difficult as everything I try to wear looks awful. I do wonder if I have some kind of body dysmorphia as I can't think of a single outfit that I've worn that made me feel amazing. I've always felt incredibly uncomfortable in certain clothes and it shows!

Last weekend I went on a weekend away and on the Saturday I wore a peplum top with a pair of cropped trousers and I looked quite slim. I would normally stay away from peplum by the extra fabric his my bloat.

tigerbreadandtea · 22/08/2021 20:12

@Peachyqueen honestly I wasn't happy, didn't feel like me, and got to the point where I didn't feel good in anything. Was ordering so many clothes and sending all back. I want to lose another half stone.

Beachlovingirl · 22/08/2021 20:29

I go for a top with a shoulder/arm that has more volume and this makes my mummy tummy look a lot less “there”.

The thing that will make a real difference is weight loss but I also find if I give up sugar then mine is less sticky-outy. So even if you can do anything I would advise cutting out sugar.

I also only drink gin and tonic as opposed to the Prosecco and wine I used to enjoy.

These things make me feel like I can still not be consumed with losing weight and always saying no to everything, to something I can do that still has an lessens the tummy.

Vbree · 22/08/2021 20:36

Floaty tea dresses are great at skimming my mum tum and my huge backside Grin jersey material is stretchy and super flattering.

Guineapigbridge · 22/08/2021 20:53

I second giving up sugar and would add white flour to that. It makes an incredible difference to bloat.

Boogiewoody · 23/08/2021 07:22

I used to suffer terribly from bloating but I realised wheat, potatoes and rice were to blame so I cut them out of my diet and I only get bloated on my period now and even that's not as bad. When I do I just wear dresses that are loose around the stomach.
