Hello,

I posted a thread last night about feeling generally stuck in a rut of just feeling generally unhealthy, sluggish (you know that feeling when you've eaten your body weight in food after Xmas)

And just generally crap!

You can easily tell, my nails are snapped, brittle, haven't been painted in god knows how long (I usually have gels on etc), I literally wear the same outfit on repeat atm due to not knowing how to dress for the changing seasons (I have just invested in a "shacket" and have a few bits I really want but until the weather changes properly I don't really want to spend loads on all new stuff) - plus I like shopping the autumn colours and seeing what's in season.

My face is a right spotty mess, I very rarely wear make up (on date night, special occasions, meals out), it's dry and I have tiny little spots on the top of my nose which are sore! Envy

I am not eating well in the slightest and know this is something that needs to change, I was doing calorie counting for a while and really enjoyed it. I maybe drink a glass of water a day (not like me at all - I'm a bit water drinker)

So yeah just generally feeling crap.

What wise words would you pass onto looking and feeling better - even when you're feeling a bit crappy?
Or tips for looking more polished and glam? Even on a nursery run or just mooching round the shops?

Thank you in advance! Smile

Hair is a big one for me, if I have styled my hair I feel 10 times more polished. I can curl my hair in 10-15 minutes, but if spend more time and care, 25 minutes, it can last me a good few days until it next needs washing.

Skin won’t clear up overnight but if you give a it cleanse, a little massage, and moisturise, even if it doesn’t immediately look any different it will feel nicer.

I think you know that eating better and drinking more will help you, inside and out, it’s just finding the motivation and energy to start. Don’t forget that when overeating the wrong foods we can still feel hungry as our bodies are starved for some nutrients so continue to send out hunger signals. So as a small things perhaps try and eat one more portion of fruit/veg a day.

Yes hair for me too is the biggest thing

Drinking water

Eating healthy. Don’t start both counting calories and healthy eating at the same time though. It’s grim. My tip is to just eat healthy minimally processed and no junk food, but as much as you like

Also daily fresh air, walks if you can manage

Exercise

In my experience if you have bad hair then anything you wear or do isn't going to look good. Once you've sorted your hair it all gets easier.

My tips for looking polished are having your teeth whitened (not Tippex white, obvs). Use Nailtique No.2 Formula on your nails to repair them (it's pricey but nothing else comes close). Once they've recovered, get a Shellac manicure in a neutral shade (no nail art, please) and they'll still look immaculate 2 weeks later.

Use a good perfume every day. Drink lots of water to clear your skin. Lay off the refined carbs to reduce bloating.

Buy your clothes in outfits rather than separates. A few years back I had tonnes of clothes but struggled to put them together. Now, I have fewer clothes but if I see an outfit I really like on Pinterest or Instagram then I just buy the whole outfit, so much easier. I figure these stylists train for years to put outfits together, so might as well tap into their expertise.
