Shopping in London for teens

I am taking my 14 YO DD to London with a friend for some clothes shopping. Haven't been to London in years!! Is Oxford Street still the best bet for this? They're Primark/H&M/Zara type girls, they'll also want to see cute kawaii stuff.

Oxford Street or Westfield if you can be arsed, yes. Down the Tottenham court road end there's the mahoosive Primark and I think the big Tiger for the cutesy stationery stuff down that end too.

Oh they'd love Tiger!! Good one thanks.

I'd probably go for one of the Westfield's as opposed to Oxford Street, only because the shops are all in one place. But, I guess they will miss the buzz of Oxford Street if they are in a soleless shopping centre.

You could probably do both, as it doesn't take long to get from Oxford Circus to either Westfield's. Maybe spend the morning down Oxford Street/Covent Garden and the afternoon at one of the Westfields.

Oxford and Regent St have all those shops and it really feels like London! Fab places to take them for coffee and cake goo

If they’re in any way individual or quirky, Camden market would be worth a visit

Spidey66 · 16/08/2021 12:09

I see you’ve said she liked Zara/H&M/Primark but still think Camden is worth visiting

I would also recommend the Tottenham Court Rd end of Oxford Street. It's a bit grim and soulless IMO but there's a massive Zara, a massive Primark, a big New Look, Tiger etc. Then it's 2 mins walk to Covent Gdn where there are nice places for lunch, more interesting shops, as well as a big H&M.

My teens and their friends like the Oxford Circus part of the area, and most especially going off into Carnaby Street and wandering through to Soho.
You can do the chain stores around that part of Oxford St and Regent St and then to Carnaby, Soho and then Covent Garden. Much nicer than Westfield and they will get a sense of being in London.
(we live close enough to walk to Oxford Circus, so I'm round there quite a bit. Lots of shops have closed because of covid related trading issues but if you do this sort of route you'll still find it lively and it has more character than round the junction with Tottenham Court Rd)

When I was 15ish Westfield had just been built. I now go there everytime in London for a shopping spree. I like how everything is under one roof, if the weather is bad then you don't need to faff with coats and stuff. There's some lovely places to go for a bite to eat.

Last went to Oxford st first time in ages just before COVID and it just felt unmanageable and having to worry about crossing the road for traffic etc.

If they like Kawaii then they'll love this Covent Garden store

Be warned that there is a big Urban Outfitters at Oxford Circus, which is ££££ but also catnip to teenagers.
