Hair straighteners

I feel that my GHDs are not really doing much these days. They don't feel hot and my hair goes puffy regardless. So I am in the market for a new pair of straighteners. My hair is fine, has a not nice/inconsistent wave to it and a horrible tendency to go puffy/frizzy at the slightest sign of humidity, including just walking into a steamy bathroom for one second!! I'd love to hear your recommendations. Don't know if this is relevant but I am 50 YO, like I said hair is fine, I used to have quite a lot of it but not so much anymore. Please don't suggest I do the curly girl method.

New GHDs and keratin smoothing treatment

The dyson corralles is fantastic. I only used it when away with a friend who has it. I can’t justify the £400 thoigh so back to my GHD ones which I got a new pair and they are great.

My original ones went bang after many many years and so I brought the platinum ones but they were not as good so went back to the basic ones and they are just as good as the original ones.

I sold my barely used GHD's on Ebay and bought Cloud Nine straighteners.

Cloud Nine straighteners are fantastic. One of the features is temperature control which my GHD's didn't have.

Like you OP, I have fine hair and the finish, shine of my hair when I use the CN straighteners is great.

Hi, I recently brought cloud nine after finding my ghds not working as good. Waw, they are fab. I do have natural curly hair and it goes frizzy at the first sign of rain , but I’m very impressed with the cloud nine, definitely recommend.

I got a pair of Remmington ones on offer in boots for £25. They are perfect. My hair is very curly and they get it poker straight that stays straight.

Tip I've found that works is blow dry your hair before straightening, use the straighteners and then blast it with the hairdryer again to make sure all of the moisture in your hair has gone.

Thank you everyone. Wow, the price of Cloud 9s! Still, I feel like crap when my hair goes puffy, so I feel it's a small price to pay for feeling good. I guess I'll get the original ones for £129. Would getting directly from their website be best?

I recently got the Remington keratin protect or something like that, it was around £30 and they’re doing an amazing job on my hair. Like yours, it tends to go puffy within 10 minutes. I apply a tiny bit of hair spray after I’ve straightened it and that also helps keep it in shape for longer.

I bought mine direct. I emailed them first to ask if they offered a first order discount, as a lot of places offer discount with first orders. I got 10% discount. This was just a few weeks into the pandemic, so around April 2020.

Worth asking Grin
