....other than a good nights sleep.
I'm in my 40's and all my 3 children are now at school so I have a little me time and some cash. I had a pretty bad five years or so in my late 30's and the truth is I aged quite a lot during that time. I am also older than hubby and whilst he loves me as i am I would just like to feel a little more confident about the way I look. I also have a five year old and I am just waiting for someone to ask if I am her granny
I was thinking about going and having maybe some facials or treatments (like CACI or dermabrasion?) but I have no idea what actually helps and what latest best options are.
I am accepting of the fact that I am getting older - would just like to look the best I can. Does anyone use any regular treatments that help ?
I have wrinkles across my forhead and around my eyes and my skin is pretty dull ( in spite of loads of water and a good diet) and my jawline is definately getting saggier.
Its quite a picture isn't it

Pag, I feel the same! I get so depressed when I see my face in the mirror. I have aged more in the last year than ever before, and look a lot older than my 37 years, altho people don't agree(prob just being nice) .

I will watch this thread with interest. I did have reg. facials in my weedding run up, 7 years ago, and they were fab. But now moneys too tight! (Unlike my jawline)

I had facials before my wedding, not my weeding. GOD.

I know the feeling. Getting deep wrinkles/frown lines on my forehead. Priced up botox ant £155 a go for one area. Might try in once and see the effect. Anyone had botox?

I think that pretty regular facials work especially for skin's dullness. And regular exfoliating with a good product (sisley is supposed to be good). I don't know much about more invasive treatments.
gosh your dc are stunning !

thank you franca. They are nice kids.

I have a Champneys near me that do elemis treatments. Perhaps I'll try a course of those. The caci treatments look good but I am never sure if these things actually make any difference - but perhaps the pampering itself may just help !
Thanks all

A friend of mine had Elemis facials and I remember her being satisfied. They will certainly advise you to buy some products , do get a face scrub if you are not using one at the moment, it really works against dullness.

same problem here...

try the following which have helped me...

  1. Good eyebrows get them waxed and shaped OFTEN like a mini face lift...
  1. Good skin care routine twice a day I love Eve Lom and L'oreal micro dermabrasion makes my skin look amazing...
  1. SPF every day
  1. CACI I have tried but I find it made little impact -- facial exercises are loads better and FREE!

pagwatch - are you taking good care of yourself? Because before you spend lots of money on facials, maybe you could take better care of yourself at home.

How long do you spend in the bath every day? Do you exfoliate all over? Do you massage your head every day? Put on body lotion?

Lots of pampering in the peace of your own bathroom can do a world of good...

ZZmum
I have booked an eyebrow shape . And I have asked for a chat with the woman that owns/runs the salon so I will see what she would suggest. I need to get some more Eve lom. Did the stupid thing of buying something cheaper and have dodgy skin again now.
anna888. I guess I have but I am doing much more now. Body lotion at night, good haircut last week.
The problem with doing stuff at home I guess is that I don't ever really relax - i plan to have a nice long bath and then the washing basket looks at me funny and i get guilted. Also completely no chance after the kids are home as DS2 still struggles to sleep so I am 'on alert' iyswim.
At least if i have something booked I know I will go and i do then actually realx and let go of endlessly worrying.
hmm - pretty schizophrenic about stuff really.
thanks for the suggestions

Drink lots and lots and lots of water every day.

And then some more.
