Dyson for blow dry look?

Hi, I have a very dark hair cut in a bob below my ears.. when I go to the hairdressers I come out and it is so shiny and healthy looking.. but I am useless at doing my own hair so can never come close to recreating that look! I dont have a lot of patience which doesn’t help!! I do use GHDs on it. I was thinking of investing in a dyson supersonic hairdryer, I thought some of the attachments would make my hair styling easier… but then i saw an ad for the dyson air wrap which you can use on wet hair and I thought maybe better? I will never use any attachments for curling my hair or anything it’s just a nice blow dry look I want!! Any info appreciated, which would be best or neither? Many thanks!

I think the Babyliss Big Hair might be what you’re after. I have the Airwrap too, but the BBH is better at giving me a shiny sleek finish, and is easy to use. I use it on 80% dry hair.

My hairdresser told me not to bother with the Dyson hair dryer, she said it's much lighter so good for a hairdresser but she didn't think it would help me.
I had the Babyliss Big Hair and I have thick wavy/curly hair it just got tangled up in it, but I got it on recommendation from a friend who swears by it so I think it depends on your hair.
She has a bob and it does always look properly blowdried in fairness.
I've gone curly now and the Airwrap was recommended to me as good for that when it's more frizz than curl.
I'm going to borrow one first though!

You need a Revlon One Step. Proper game changer. Dry it with the hair dryer until it's pretty much dry and finish it off with the one step.

I have a Babyliss Big Hair and it pulled my hair out but I have no damage with the One Step.

I love my Air Wrap. It's the first time I've ever managed to get my hair to look the way the hairdresser does.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 14/08/2021 17:50

I have both the supersonic and air wrap. (Bit extravagant)
The fly away attachment on the supersonic means I don't need to straighten at all. It's quicker to use than the air wrap. I also use a wide round Dyson brush with the supersonic.
I like the air wrap but have never been successful in drying my hair from scratch with it. I think it is a styler and hair has to be about 80% dry. I use the air wrap in between washes.
The big hair is good:I had them before the dyson but never got them to last v long.

Revlon one step- it's amazing!

Get it on Amazon I paid £32.99 for it. So it's worth a punt.

Magnalux · 14/08/2021 20:44

Thanks everyone .. I think I might have a go with the revlon first and see how I go. Can’t go too far wrong at the price !

I have a Dyson hairdryer and I absolutely do need to style afterwards. It dries my hair very quickly which is great, but in no way is it smooth or ready to go out.

My hair is very long, thick and wavy.

AnAnonymousCheerleader · 15/08/2021 01:25

I have an air wrap and absolutely love it. It's expensive but cost less than all the other hair tools I use combined and The only time I've used my ghds or curling wand since getting the air wrap is for travel as the air wrap is quite bulky. My hair is thin and flyaway and the air wrap has been a game changer for me.

Dh bought me the hairdryer after as a bday gift and I don't rate that. I'm not saying it's not good, it is but I don't think it's that much better than the hairdryer I already owned, it just doesn't weigh as much.

The air wrap had mixed reviews and it's expensive so if you're able to have a go of one before spending id do that.

I have every Dyson Hair product .. nearly £1k worth.. and it's all sat in its original boxes where I put it weeks after discovering the Revlon One Step brush dryer for £45 .. 😳

I will never use anything else ever again ... my hair looks and feels amazing ...

It's just finding whatever suits you and your hair OP ☺️

Coffeepot72 · 15/08/2021 08:09

I’ve got the Babyliss Big Hair and Revlon One Step. Both are great at smoothing and giving volume, but I find that the Babyliss really does give you big hair (the clue’s in the name …) and I end up looking a bit bouffant if I’m not careful.

Farevalah · 15/08/2021 08:55

Which One Step do people have?
I've seen the round brush one and the one that looks like a paddle brush.
I have very thick hair with a slight wave to just past my shoulders. I normally straighten it after drying.

Which one is best?

cherrypiepie · 15/08/2021 09:14

I have this one -it's kind of oval shaped to give volume

Lumpwoody · 15/08/2021 09:16

I have the big hair but it’s the one with the fat and thinner attachments. My hair seems similar length to yours and I use the thinner barrel and it looks properly blow dried when I do. My hair is fine but lots of it if that helps.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/08/2021 09:31

Oval shaped one step is what I have, it's fabulous.

Farevalah · 15/08/2021 09:33

I've ordered one. £33 on Boots so it's worth a punt.

MoltonSilver · 15/08/2021 09:48

If you buy the airwrap direct from Dyson there is a 30 day trial period. I sent mine back. It dried my hair pretty quickly but I have nothing else good to say about it. I couldn't get a shine or decent looking style from any attachment. I've gone back to using my hair dryer followed by babyliss sheer volume. It doesn't actually give volume. It smooths the hair a bit like a straightener would without making it flat and blunt.

Coffeepot72 · 15/08/2021 11:06

I have the oval one step - I’ve tried the paddle brush version but it does not give volume. I think the one step (oval) comes in two sizes, I have shoulder length hair and have the standard size

Charlieiscool · 15/08/2021 11:11

I found the Revlon one cumbersome and pretty useless. I’d love to get the dyson but it’s so expensive I baulk at paying so much for yet another hair styling tool that might not work.

QueenBee52 · 15/08/2021 11:29

Yes ... this one works wonders for me too 🌸

Kjr33 · 15/08/2021 13:23

I have a Bob and the air wrap is great, 10 mins and it looks like I’ve done a proper blow dry and used straighteners and at a much lower temperature so I’m finding my hair is in much better condition. I looked at the revlon one but it seemed really big for shorter hair?

QueenBee52 · 15/08/2021 13:30

Ive shelved my GHD's since using the Revlon brush ...

never needed them again..

my hairs just on the shoulder.. it gives great body ... 🌸

Frazzled2207 · 15/08/2021 13:33

Sorry hi jacking
Would the paddle brush one-step be any good to make a Bob look straight and sleek?
Don’t really want curls or volume just sleek!

PuppyMonkey · 15/08/2021 13:40

I have the Revlon brush thing and also the Babylis Big Hair (from ages ago) and whilst I quite liked them both at first, I started finding that after an hour or two, my hair started going frizzy, so tbh I've stopped using because I got fed up of that happening.

I have treated myself to Dyson hairdryer and Corale straighteners and they work a treat so far for my bob.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/08/2021 13:53

The one step doesn't add volume to my hair ( thick and frizzy) it makes it sleek and makes it behave itself.
