Teenage pimples

My DD is 13 and has a lot of pimples all the time over her face and back. It's bee like this for several years (her periods started at 10). She isn't very interested in beauty and cleanses i pretty irregularly with micellar water. She has acnecide cream and witch hazel (which she prefers).
I'm just wondering if I am being remiss in not taking her to the GP. I never had anything for myself and I am not really sure what the norm is.

I haven't taken this picture deliberately to show it, but I wanted to give an idea of what it's like and this is pretty much how it usually is on most of her face.

My daughter is 12 and her skin looks very similar to your daughters. Would love to know of anything that could help.

Please take her to the GP before they scar. There is loads they can try if over the counter products aren't working for her.

I've read an article in the BMJ and I have bought her some skincare with ingredients that seem to be effective. The ingredients are azaleic acid (I have bought the Ordinary one) and salicylic acid (I have bought two things from the Inkey List). If there's no improvement in 6 weeks I'll take her to the GP and I can say Ive tried the suggested over the counter remedies

Clearasil pads have salicylic acid - I recall someone like Caroline Huron’s recommending them as a budget alternative.

Phyllis321 · 18/08/2021 09:13

...they keep DS’s skin reasonably clear.

It is a very major problem in teens age.

My poor ten year old has the same. I had bad skin too but can say that salicylic acid had been a game changer. Also niacinamide and azelaic acid. Cereve cleanser is good and contains SA and niacinamide, and clearasil pads as mentioned above have SA in them. I think OTC treatment has come along way since I was young when it was only really benzyl peroxide which was so drying.
Also silk pillowcase is good and holds less bacteria I have read
