Get rid of 11’s and “glow up” help needed

Cheesecheeseboard · 14/08/2021 11:32

Hi all
I’m 43 and peri menopausal and have noticeably aged somewhat in last year or two. I’ve always been told I look young for my age, however no one has commented like that in a long time 😂
My main issue is I permanently squint in bright light, I have two lines between eyebrows and I look pissed off most of the time and I think it ages me. I have had my eyes tested and wear sunglasses but I still squint. It just drags my eyes down too.
I have two asd children so life is stressful but I just want to look abit younger again
No other wrinkles apart from slight jowls developing and just general “glow” gone 😞😞 face looks haggard as I haven’t got a full face
I’m on HRT but was hoping it would give back my youthful glow
Ive never been stunning I know that just used to be happy with how I looked and now just see an old, angry woman staring back at me.
I guess I struggle with the aging process more than I thought I would and am considering Botox for the 11’s
I just am too scared it would look ridiculous on me as people wouldn’t assume I would use Botox. Have always said I want to age naturally but feel at 43 I should look younger than I am now. I wouldn’t want anyone to know I had Botox done
Have been reading about glow ups, what can you recommend I try??

Botox for your 11s, no one will even notice ! you will though as the lines will drastically soften/ go completely depending how bad they are to start with

Look into things like vitamin c / retinol creams for general skin condition

Spf everyday

Water

Haha that’s what I do anyway

Footballfrenzy2021 · 14/08/2021 12:03

I had Botox for the first time 3 months ago - 11’s, forehead & crows feet.
No one noticed but I’ve had a few ‘you look lovely today ‘
I was absolutely terrified I’d look ridiculous (& terrified of actually getting Botox) but I have to say I’d wish I’d taken the plunge years ago (I’m 50).
I’m a convert 😂.
Sorry can’t help with the glow up

Mamamia35 · 14/08/2021 12:09

Don't know about glow up - what even is that? But you can, take out a 3 months subscription to Beauty Pie (£30). Buy a load of products with retinol, vit C etc and then cancel the subscription. Oh and get one of their candles, they are brilliant and will make you feel good! Also the Superdrug VitA range is dead cheap and really nice to use.

RacheyCat · 14/08/2021 12:39

They actually asked me if I wanted to look frozen or dynamic when I got botox, and I chose dynamic, so it's not obvious at all.

Cheesecheeseboard · 14/08/2021 13:12

Thanks for the replies ladies. I’m just a bit worried as not sure where to go. A few local beauty salons offer it and they seem qualified etc and good reviews. But some ( most) of them look frozen or very obviously done even the practitioners

Cheesecheeseboard · 14/08/2021 16:59

Ooo what’s that @Laburnam
Is it expensive, guess it will be

I nearly started a similar thread myself. My number 11's are the least of my problems (though will def get botox at some point) - my face seems to have aged a lot lately and I'm blaming stress and poor diet (result of said stress). I've also put on half a stone. My plan is to cut out sugar, cut down on carbs, eat plenty of fish, chicken and fresh veg, and loads of water, plus get up half an hour earlier every morning to work out. Hoping this will help in my mission to glow up.

MutteringDarkly · 14/08/2021 19:09

100% not an expert but I empathise! A couple of years older than you and I just look justifiably knackered. I am also so bored with how I look.

I've got a lot of lockdown weight to lose but I want to improve how I look while I'm doing that (because it could be a long haul!). In the meantime, I've totally changed my make-up, gone from matte which was suddenly settling into my wrinkles and making me look dried out, to sheer (I tried Trinny London because I was lured by their video of exhausted to awake in 4 minutes!). I've had so many compliments about looking healthy and fresh, even from my mother, who is tough to impress tbh. I've also realised late in life the importance of good eyebrows!

I've always coloured my hair but it no longer suits me, so I'm about to basically have it dyed my natural colour, and hope to get it back in shiny good condition, going a little shorter. At least it will be a change Grin and I plan to live with it a while and see how it feels.

Watching your plans with interest, good luck!

I am 43 and very au naturel!! No one would think I get Botox but I had it for the 11’s in June and it’s been amazing. I still have some lines and it’s just erased the really aging ones. I had criteria when looking for someone - I wanted a female doctor who did natural work. I see Dr Tara Kidd.

Secondly - purchase skin +me. Take the guess work out of your skin care routine. For me this both simplyified and improved my skin care.

I also love a spray tan or Vita Liberata products for a home tan x

GraceMelbury · 14/08/2021 19:25

Look for a local dentist who does botox- dentists know far more about facial muscles than doctors or nurses.

I've just had botox in my 11's and my forehead still moves and I can frown, but my biggest wrinkle is so much better, although not gone altogether. I wanted some movement rather than being completely frozen.

I'm so glad I had it done - nobody has commented, although I have told my friends.

I feel that I don't look cross all the time.

Laburnam · 14/08/2021 19:31

It’s a device that tones and lifts I bought mine from current body, lots of videos to watch and much cheaper then Botox . Make it part of your daily routine and it definitely makes a difference

Treacletoots · 14/08/2021 19:34

43 here OP. I feel you. I regularly do FaceGym and it actually smoothes out your 11s Grin or at the very least will give you a few more years before getting Botox (totally going to when I need it though)

Second everybody else. vitamin C lotion, retinol, matrixyl peptide for firmness and I also really like Azelaic acid.

I bought a nuface but found it didn't react well with an old metal filling I had. All I can say is argh!!!

Finally, I got fillers, tear troughs and cheeks a few months ago and the difference is amazing. No more under eye bags, and the cheeks lift up the jowls. Well worth the investment.

careerchangeperhaps · 14/08/2021 19:41

If you're considering the Nuface - Aldi does a dupe and it's only £25:

nancybotwinbloom · 14/08/2021 19:52

I have Botox on my 11's and the side my eyes. Only once every six months.

I pay £300 for three areas which o know is expensive however it's the only one that seems to last. I've gone to others and it's juSt not as good.

I use a doctor. I pay £59 a month or there abouts.

I had some filler put in my lips 2.5 years ago and it still doesn't need topping up. I honestly think you pay for what you get. Or maybe I am just lucky and my body doesn't break it down very quickly.

Another Botox concert here, I was always very sceptical about having it but after a year of dace yoga, no alcohol and drinking gallons of water and my 11 still being really prominent I gave in and I have to say I love it so much. I just look better and less tired. Just find a a good practitioner.

newlabelwriter · 15/08/2021 07:55

Also in terms of flow up the above has helped so much with my skin, the boring stuff like drinking 2l a water, proper sleep and pretty much giving up booze has made a huge difference and I’ve also lost weight and taken up a daily exercise routine. I’d say it’s knocked years off me but I am older than you and post menopause so probably more in need 😉

Cheesecheeseboard · 15/08/2021 10:02

For now I’ve decided to cut out alcohol for few weeks. I’ve done that before for a couple of months and face looked slightly better do will try that again along with the 2l water.
I’ve got some murad retinol serum and eye cream which I shall not mention the cost of 😱 hoping I will look fresher in a few weeks
I know that won’t help my 11’s much so researching clinics as I most likely will have them done in future

Trinny London miracle blur helps to soften up those lines. I use it every day but obviously it’s just make up and doesn’t have any lasting effect.
