Simple to use natural looking eye shadow

Hi
I’m completely useless/lazy when it comes to wearing makeup but I’m trying to up my game a little.
When I do wear makeup I use Laura mercier tinted moisturiser for fair skin which I am happy with. Other than that I use a dab of mascara and a bit of blusher and tinted lip gloss so it’s very basic. I’d like an eye cream that I can smooth onto my eyelids with my fingers (as I can’t even be bothered using brushes). I don’t want it too shimmery/metallic but just to brighten my eyes a bit. I’m fair with pink rather than yellow toned skin. Any suggestions on a definite winner? I don’t care whether it’s cheap or expensive, I just want something super reliable and easy to put on so it becomes routine. Thanks in advance!

Perricone No Makeup Eyeshadow is lovely and foolproof, for a no makeup look.

It only comes in one colour, but I have fair skin and it looks like the eyelids I had in my youth, I do two coats as my eyelids are very veiny.

Mac paintpots are super easy to use and they have some very natural ones. Painterly is very natural, also they have light brown/beige ones.

TomatoSoup69 · 12/08/2021 14:14

I really like MAC Groundwork. Something about it brings out the colour of different colours of eyes without looking like makeup really.

carwashy · 13/08/2021 05:20

I use my blush as eyeshadow. A lot of people do, it's a natural and glowy look.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 13/08/2021 05:54

Came on to say the Mac Paintpots.

I use Groundwork every day - either on it’s own or as a base for powder shadows.

I like the urban decay eyeshadow primer and often use that on its own as a shadow on make up days but when I can't be arsed

Clinique chubby stick for eyes are great, I have a bronze one I can swipe on in seconds

abiabib123 · 13/08/2021 09:01

I would suggest a light taupe/ champagne colour that looks good all over the lid. If you use a fluffy blending brush to buff and blend at the edges then it looks so much better. Also, you could use a matte brown shade on an angled liner brush to push into your lash line and under neath your lashes as a soft liner - I find this always makes my eyes look less tired and more polished but only takes a couple of minutes and is so much less faff than actual eyeliner!

Wow - thank you for all the suggestions, I'm going to look them all up.

Twilightstarbright How are the Clinque chubby sticks in terms of application - by which I mean...do you have to apply a lot of pressure like you would a pencil/crayon? Or do they glide on easily?

I don't wear foundation but I do put a bit of concealer round my eyes, so that is my eyeshadow! Like a pp, it's because you can see my veins a bit otherwise and also the shadows from lack of sleep!

NotMyCat · 13/08/2021 11:24

Maybelline colour tattoo is good
I'm cool toned so I sometimes just use a contour powder

Defiantly41 · 13/08/2021 11:44

Charlotte Tilbury eye sticks are lovely www.charlottetilbury.com/uk/product/colour-chameleon-champagne-diamonds

Or for a bit more subtle look Bobbi Brown long wear shadow stick comes in loads of colours, matte or shimmer www.bobbibrown.co.uk/product/2330/24845/makeup/eyes/eye-shadow/long-wear-cream-shadow-stick

RacheyCat · 13/08/2021 14:20

I love the Clinque Chubby Sticks - they glide on and blend so nicely. You can't buy them in my part of the world any more, so I use the Chanel liquid eyeshadow, ombre premier laque. It's pretty much as idiot proof as the Chubby Sticks. I did try a Maybelline dupe, but it was crap.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 13/08/2021 14:25

I use sticks.

Laura Mercier do them, Bobbi Brown and beauty pie all do.

Bobbi Brown just had some new shades out, very neutral tones. I add either Bark or Dark Plum on the lash line and that's that.

I find sticks easier to use and more hygienic than pots. I hate sticking my fingers in the pot, and can't always be bothered with a brush.

AuntMasha · 13/08/2021 14:29

I like the natural eye look too and also recommend Bobbi Brown’s long-wear cream shadow sticks:

Glossier Lid Star is great - www.glossier.com/products/lidstar - it lasts a long time and because you blend it with your fingers I find it easy to use.The colour is more of a wash than the bold colours on their site, I find - but it’s easy to build it up if you want more.

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 13/08/2021 22:19

Trinny eye2eye
MAC paintpots
Nudestix, Vieve or Laura Mercier crayon eye sticks/wands

learieonthewildmoor · 14/08/2021 05:05

Laura Mercier does Eye Caviar sticks, they are beautiful. Better wear than the Clinique sticks.

76FDre421 · 14/08/2021 13:33

Thanks everyone - I have a basket ready for checkout with several of these suggestions

You can try E.L.F. eyeshadow sticks, they are very similar to Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown etc and cost about £5 or less - good to try this type of eyeshadow out without spending too much.

ConfusedParticle · 14/08/2021 13:54

are the Bobbi brown sticks creamy or powdery?

I am also due to update, but prefer creamy, smooth shadows to powdery or shimmery.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 14/08/2021 14:24

They are creamy, some are matte, some shimmery.

76FDre421 · 15/08/2021 22:38

I’ve reluctantly concluded that I can’t decide on the shade/colour for buying anything online -it’s too risky especially when the sticks are around £20 each. It’s really hard to tell which colours would suit. So I’m going to try and go into a store in person instead of buying online. Unfortunately this delays the purchasing but hopefully I’ll end up with something that works. Thanks again for all the suggestions!
