Morning.

What do you think? Does it matter to you if others think this is cringe? It doesn't matter to me but my partner is embarrassed.

Any recommendations of good quality retailers?

Just no.

MyMabel · 06/08/2021 11:51

I’ve been sort of matching with DD once.

Wouldn’t do it all the time though unless for an occasional maybe. But not completely matching.. just in colours/patterns that compliment each other I guess?

MyMabel that is really cute. I hope you had a lovely day out.

I quite like it , especially things like pjs and costumes etc .

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 06/08/2021 12:00

Wouldn’t do it normally, but we are on our way to a wedding right now and my 3 year old DS is wearing a blue shorts/waistcoat with white shirt which almost matches his dad’s blue suit 😍 it’s adorable! They also have matching bow tie and tie 🥰
For everyday clothes Mango do this, & other stories had a range recently, also Next. (Not sure why I know this as I don’t want to twin with my son!)

I quite often inadvertently dress DD (19 months) in an outfit that matches or coordinates with mine, but it's usually an subconscious thing. Like I'll put her in jeggings and a tie dye t shirt and I'll wear skinny jeans and my tie dye sweater or we'll both be in floral dresses.

I quite like the idea of matching swimsuits on holiday, or the matching festive pyjamas, but other than that I wouldn't actively buy matching outfits

Yes this is what I was thinking. For certain occasions or at particular times, not literally everyday by deliberate design.

Thanks for the idea of where to get some.

The matching suit with tie and bow tie sounds adorable! Have a great time at the wedding!

My mum used to make some of her own clothes when I was small and if she had leftover fabric I'd get a miniature version Grin.

It wasn't OTT and stopped by the time I was about 6 so I have fond memories of those outfits now.

I've bought me and DD matching Christmas PJs for the last few years but she's nearly 17 do may have to let that slide soon 😁!

Me and DD have got matching jumpers from Anorak

When my daughter was very small she took great delight that I dressed up in a similar/matching outfit on her birthday!

Jumpingintosummer · 06/08/2021 13:09

DD loves the occasional matching top!

Yep, I've done it accidentally too. The amount of times when they were tiny and I've realised whilst we were at toddler group that we were pretty much in the same outfit and thought shit. For example, we'd both be in jeans and the same colour top.

Mine are older now (10 and 14) so it doesn't happen anymore. They'd probably have me murdered if I dared to wear the same outfit 😂.

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 06/08/2021 13:58

Me, 2 kids and my mum once inadvertently went out all wearing dungarees. We looked ridiculous. Like a multi generational clown troupe. Have also accidentally coordinated with 1 member of my family before though and that was ok.

thebabessavedme · 06/08/2021 18:43

My mum once made us both purple hotpants with a matching tabard and teamed them with white vinyl boots, must have been C1970, I would have been about 7 or 8 and I remember thinking I was the absolute bees knees Grin

MaverickDanger · 06/08/2021 18:46

Me and DS have matching football shirts. That’s about it.

5475878237NC · 06/08/2021 18:49

I have sometimes dressed the same as my partner accidentally too.

Thanks for your replies - and your anecdotes Grin

Anorak looks cute. I might treat us to some matching pyjamas.

I do it accidentally sometimes as I wear a lot of Breton stripe and so does she!

We do have these t shirts:

Totally naff.

crochetandcoffeebreaks · 06/08/2021 19:03

I don't match exactly with DD but on occasions like weddings or Eid I like to have colour in our outfits that match, like the main colour of our dresses might be blue, hers would have a different accent colour to mine. But on a day to day basis I just put her in whatever is clean that day Grin

goose1964 · 07/08/2021 07:26

Tesco do a lovely red and white check dress, and a playsuit in the same fabric for young children

CeeceeBloomingdale · 07/08/2021 07:33

I've done it by accident ie. something in a similar colourway or the other day I wore a t-shirt with the same logo as my teen DD which she strangely liked although they were different styles and colours. I'm not into deliberately wearing the same outfits but then I didn't dress my DDs the same, even when they were little.
