Dd 13 and eyebrows!

2anddone · 05/08/2021 15:20

Can anyone advise me on the best way to shape dd's eyebrows please? She is 13 and has become aware of her thick dark eyebrows which she says are weird Hmm I have only ever had my eyebrows waxed once for my wedding (which was a complete waste of time as my eyebrows are so fair you can hardly see them anyway!)
What is the best way for dd to 'sort' her eyebrows...plucking, threading or waxing?
All advice greatly appreciated thank you in advance Smile

I get mine waxed so that's what dd gets done too

SnitchyBitch · 05/08/2021 15:33

My eldest gets hers threaded, ends up with a lovely shape.

HelloDulling · 05/08/2021 15:35

DD and I both have ours waxed. I find threading complete agony.

Happy36 · 05/08/2021 19:05

Would suggest waxing. Go to a recommended professional then after a few times you may be able to maintain at home.

DonLewis · 05/08/2021 19:10

Near me, there are a couple of places that specialise in the first eyebrow appoinemt for young teens. It's all very relaxed and gentle. See if there's anywhere near you that offers that?

I think it'd be really sensible to go to a professional...I pay a fortune now to have my eyebrows tattooed back on after enjoying the 90s trends with eyebrows! She could avoid that, get pampered and gets a bit of confidence about her brows.

I have thick dark brows that grow to a beautiful mono brow if left. my daughter had inherited this. I used to get mine waxed but I've changed to threading the last few years & I find the finish much softer & natural. We go every 3 wks for a tidy up.

I'd ask your local Facebook for a suggestion for great eyebrow artists. Say you would like advice for what would suit face shape etc.

You want someone who comes with a lot of recommendations.

Waxing is the quickest and best in my opinion. Threading can sometimes make me a bit queasy for some reason.

Let her experiment by plucking for the love of God!!! 13 year olds with brow appointments!!! Crazy! She could end up looking like a 35 year old divorcée!!!!!

Summer7 · 06/08/2021 01:35

Strongly, do not recommend plucking! Start off with waxing, when she is comfortable with that procedure try threading. Then moving forward, she can decide which treatment she prefers.

.......because a 13 year old with tweezers will do such a better job than a professional!!! Hmm

Guessing you've not been to "a brow appointment" yourself?

dementedpixie · 06/08/2021 09:14

I overplucked my eyebrows for years so I wouldn't advise going straight to that. Maybe wax to get the shape and then can pluck stray hairs as they grow back in

Nanalisa60 · 06/08/2021 09:18

Get them done by a professional, threading would be best just say you want them tied up and want the keep the natural shape. There is a lot of threading booths around often in shopping centres even My ASDA one.

DonLewis · 06/08/2021 09:25

Why does going to a professional mean she'll look like a 35 year old divorcee (what does a 35 year old divorcee look like and why is it a bad look?).

You go to the salon and tell them what you want. They don't have one type of brow they're capable of. You know, like going to a hairdresser and telling them what you want. These are just hairdressers for brows...

userxx · 06/08/2021 09:29

Threading all the way.

I had my first brow appointment at 11. Can’t say it’s done any lasting harm (eyebrows are very wild nowadays!)
Abraxan · 06/08/2021 09:37

Dd had hers threads from that age. It's what i did and she came with me.

At 19y she still prefers threading though gets a wax sometimes as they can be easier to find places doing it.

Why would anyone prefer to do there own when there are places out there that can do it for you and make a much better job if it?!

It's not even an expensive treatment either - think it's about £7 in Superdrug. We've currently got a place just opened locally that are doing threading for £1 this month!

theworldsbiggestcrocodile · 06/08/2021 09:44

Benefit brow bar in big Boots or department store beauty halls. They will advise or you can pick what shape you want from a sort of menu.
My DD's love going as all the people the work there are young and on trend and chat on to them whilst they are doing it.

2anddone · 06/08/2021 19:55

Thank you everyone for your helpful comments. I will get her an appointment at our local salon.
