Does anyone else go red really easily when excited or stressed?

If so how do you manage it, I find it really embarrassing and itโ€™s caused social anxiety my whole life ๐Ÿ˜”

Yes, horrifically so. And then someone will comment and I'll feel my face explode even further.

I avoid red wine and spicy food when we're out for group meals which is always a bit disappointing as I love both. I choose my clothes more carefully too if I'm going out for dinner or have a stressful work event that day, I'll generally stick to black.

From a skincare perspective the REN Evercalm range is brilliant and the Dr Jart stuff in the green bottle, Cicapair or Cicaplast or something.
I tried the Clinique Redness Solutions range, but it didn't tone down the redness and just sat in my pores. It does have good reviews though so it must work for a lot of people!

Oooh good recommendations. Never heard of those so Iโ€™ll go check it out. Hot drinks set me off too. Particularly bad as the day wears on.

Yes, I do. Related in my case to mild rosacea. And yes, I just don't understand why people need to comment when it happens - if someone is clearly stressed/embarrassed, why would you draw attention to it knowing it's going to make them feel worse? TBH it's got a bit better with age (I'm 38, I mean in comparison to teenage years and 20's), presumably because I give fewer fucks now.

Anyway, day-to-day I use Avรจne anti-rougeurs to reduce the redness.

Yes, I redden easily and sweat easily, and used to be a bit embarrassed about it. Like a pp however, I find that now I'm nearly 40 I just don't care what other people think anymore.

I used to also fret about how much my nostrils would flare. The idiotic things I worried about when I was young!

TheLeadbetterLife · 06/08/2021 13:16

In fact, the truth is that other people almost certainly don't notice or care half as much as I imagined they did. I certainly don't think about other people in that way - too busy thinking about my own problems (which are a lot more pressing than flared nostrils these days).

Hi, yes I do and I found I was becoming so self conscious about it, it just became worse and worse. You should speak to your doctor about propranolol. Itโ€™s a beta blocker and whilst it doesnโ€™t take away feelings of anxiety it helps lessen the physical manifestations. It has been a complete game changer for me.

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 06/08/2021 20:02

You could do with reading up on rosacea as this is how it starts. You need to do everything you can to avoid whatever it is that triggers your flushing as eventually it does get worse. I appreciate this may be easier said than done. I speak from experience.

WallabyLullaby · 06/08/2021 20:07

Yes I blush easily, I used to be much worse as well. I read recently it could be a sign of magnesium deficiency so I'm going to buy a supplement to see if that helps.

pinkhousesarebest · 06/08/2021 20:09

Yes. Itโ€™s really limited my life as I avoid any situation that it could happen in. The worst thing is that y dd is the same. Blushing, not rosacea.

Eaumyword · 06/08/2021 22:01

Yes! I've always blushed when feeling embarrassed and generally husband laughs and says ooh you've gone red. Which makes it worse Angry
It only happens to me if I've said or done something stupid (quite often then.) At nearly 50, I don't care so much, it passes quickly.
Makeup wise, I wear primer and BB cream as a base and it gives a bit of coverage.

EffOrf · 06/08/2021 22:07

I used to when I was younger but as I got older it happened less and less. I think it stopped in my 50s
