This is getting me down now! I am back in my pre-preg trousers, but my scalp is dry, scaly, flaky and itchy!

I am taking oil of evening primrose, and I have tried:

Neutrogena anti-dandruff shampoo
Neutrogena T-gel shampoo
Dead Sea Spa Mineral shampoo and Scalp Mud...

to no effect.

I finally had a go with Head and Shoulders a couple of days ago, and that made it worse!

Anyone have any miracles cures, please?

I swear by Aveda's Dry Flaky scalp treatment.
I have used it for years , throughout both pregnancies and it is the only thing which sorts out my flaky scalp.

Soak your entire scalp with baby oil at night, sleep on it (wrap your head in an old cloth/piece of sheet and put an old towel on your pillow) and then wash your head in the morning. Repeat every other day.

I would advocate olive oil as baby oil is synthetic.

Just checked the bottle
Scalp Remedy -aveda
I tried olive oil when I was younger to no avail.
The remedy is slightly more convenient for day to day life as wll

I had this too for a while and tried everything. The one and only thing that work was Olive oil . I put in all over my head and left on overnight , then washed off and it disapeared like a miracle for months, then it came back slightly and repeated the procedure and its gone again . I think I bought every crap product and nothing worked apart from this

Try crushing up some paracetemol or asprin add a drop of water apply to the scalp leave on for half hour when I was hairdressing we used to use this technique with great results.

Stay away from head and shoulders imo it too drying any shampoo that smells strongly perfumed avoid as they cause more dryness.

Also it is important to remove all shampoo thoroughly when rinsing and not to wash yuor hair to often as your are stripping it of its natural oils.

Its probably hormonal and will ease off soon, another joy of pregnancy and childbirth!!

I use the Boots expert range dry scalp stuff - they sell a pre-shampoo treatment which you leave in for 5 mins then shampoo as normal. I didnt buy the conditioner as well and it works well for me - 3 weeks and scalp looking better. I went back to my Charles Worthington last hair wash and no adverse effects.

Ladies, thank you.

I am a big fan of Aveda, used to use their leave in conditioner which is an amazing product, turned my madly peroxided hair to silk.

I will try the olive oil trick too, as that is to hand, and I am interested by the aspirin suggestion!

Thanks again, I love mumsnet, I could spend my life here but dh takes the mick.
