Heated Straightening Brush?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 30/07/2021 20:43

Has anyone used these or can recommend one? I have thick wavy hair that goes huge and frizzy when I blow dry it then I straighten it to calm it down. These look like might do the job in one go. I don't want to spend a lot if they don't work so hoping for some budget recommendations. I don't like my hair super straight just smooth and tidy so not worried about getting poker straight!
Thanks in advance

I have a Babyliss one, from Boots. It's fab - I'm not after poker-straight hair, but just want to smooth out the frizz, and straighten that annoying bit behind my ears that always goes curly. I blow dry first, then brush it through, then use the heated brush, pulling it through, and kinking the ends under slightly. It literally takes a couple of minutes, and leaves it very shiny.

BUT I would say, my hair's not at all thick and bushy, it's quite fine.

I have this one.

@CointreauVersial thank you. Does it definitely need drying first? I'm hoping to cut out a job! Although in summer I mostly leave it to dry on its own anyway as it gets so bushy blow dried.

I have tried both the babyliss and Revlon heated brush. The Revlon brush is just like a large paddle brush and isn’t detachable. It is quite heavy and unwieldy if you have small hande until you get used to it. I have Thick hair and found it got through a fair amount. The babyliss one is detachable and comes with brush, curling iron and dryer attachment. This one recommends hair being partially dry before using brush/ straightener. I didn’t bother with that but it did take longer to dry than when I used the Revlon which seems more powerful. The brush is about half the size of the Revlon one and felt harsher on my scalp. Both straightened my hair when wet, the Revlon one was quicker.

Is this the Revlon one?

Mixed reviews but that seems the case with all of them. I keep seeing a FB ad on one too but I'm generally wary of FB reviews.

I've got the GHD one, absolutely brilliant! I use it on mine and my daughters hair. Three or four brushes through after blow drying is all it needs. Not poker straight but smooth and shiny.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 30/07/2021 21:43

The GHD one is unfortunately well beyond my budget. I do however have a lotto ticket for tonight so you never know Grin

The Babyliss one definitely says dry hair first. My hair is fairly fine, so this doesn't take long.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 30/07/2021 22:47

Once your hair is dry do you find it quicker to get results than normal straighteners?

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 03/08/2021 23:46

No idea - never used normal straighteners!

It probably would be, as you don't need to put the brush down at all.

M0rT · 04/08/2021 00:01

I have thick curly/frizzy/wavy hair and I've tried these twice but my hair just gets tangled up!
Takes longer than straighteners.
I've just gone curly now, it's on trend and way less work!

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 04/08/2021 00:11

I haven't tried these but curious about how well they work

AnnieSnap · 04/08/2021 01:01

Interesting. I haven’t used one, so can’t help, but they sound useful. I’m following.

Needsomethingtoread · 04/08/2021 18:15

I have one from Aldi and it’s been great. My hair gets frizzy so a quick brush through is all it needs.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 04/08/2021 19:01

@Needsomethingtoread when did you get one from Aldi? I might be convinced to try one if I get get a bargain I'm nervous of spending a lot if it doesn't work!
@m0rt unfortunately mine isn't the kind of curly that's on trend Grin
