Anyone know if a stitch fix alternative?

I've just tried stitch fix, the service where you give them your sizes and usual preferences and a 'personal stylist' chooses things you might not always go for. I didn't keep anything.

It was ok, i'm 25 so think I'm a bit young for it really. A lot of the clothes were a bit too mature for me but I do really like the concept of surprise clothes and getting to try stuff I wouldn't usually pick myself.

There were elements of what I'd usually go for, e.g. they sent a dress with a v neck and short sleeves in a colour and pattern I liked, but it was an awkward length and just looked all wrong. Would have been better for someone 20/30 years older than me.

The prices were also really steep. Does anyone know of an alternative company who have more on trend things that might be better for my age bracket?

No but I would be interested to know myself.

I've found that my Stitch Fix boxes have improved following my very specific feedback about what I like and don't like.

I've gone from keeping nothing to keeping about half. I really the the stuff I keep and the different brands.

My most recent feedback was that I only wanted v neck stuff, has to have sleeves, mid/full length dresses, no skinnies, and some new trainers in specific colours.

Low and behold, they listened and I was really pleased!

Could you try again and be very specific about what you're after?

Hungry675tf · 29/07/2021 15:03

*Disclaimer i am much older than 25

@Hungry675tf I've just come across one called lookiero.co.uk through googling but no idea what they're like.

I looked at the preview of things in my box and declined most of it, I gave really specific feedback but still nothing that I really wanted to keep.

Thanks!

I've used lookiero a few times - they were pretty good, and you can specify the price range you want.

Lookiero although they take a while to arrive because of brexit (i think they come from Portugal). I would say they were a bit younger in style than stitch fix. Also tentree do mystery boxes from time to time. I think it’s end of line stuff and all very casual but nice of you like a surprise!

Thread. It isn't quite the same as you get to see the stuff they've selected for you before purchasing but I really rate it, gives you ideas for how you might style items as well. You can adjust the prices and they definitely do have some affordable stuff although not quite sure how it works as sometimes I seem to get a mix of affordable and contemporary designers, I have my "willingness to pay" set quite high though.

My referral code (gives you 20% off, gives me £20 if the purchase is over £75).

You could also check out circle of style, not sure how affordable it is but this is a box of secondhand designer fashion picked out by a stylist. Similar concept to lookiero and stitchfix in that you send back items that don't work.

Thanks all! Will have a look at those.

I’m onto my 7th box with lookiero and feeling really disheartened. I think the stylists think that at 59 I need to be wearing elasticated waist trousers and frumpy tops and jumpers. I’ve tried stitch fix and found they were just as bad. The styling fee for both is only £10; I just wish they would listen to my feedback or at least send me some of the lush garments In their adverts; that’s what drew me to them. Any ideas for alternatives?

Gensola · 28/11/2021 19:11

I’ve just cancelled my stitch fix box after they sent me a box of shite that made me look like a badly dressed extra from Little House on the Prairie 🤦‍♀️ Also I had a dress from them that fell to pieces the first time I washed it, and they didn’t offer a refund or anything. Very poor!

Dontrainonmyparade · 28/11/2021 21:19

I’m really liking the mini shops @ style me happy. £9.99 for loads of ideas that suit your shape/colour. If you don’t know it you can send photos for analysis for a slightly higher fee but once you do it’s great. I pay £9.99, choose a few pieces that I really like and buy them directly. I’ve done 2 now and I’m going to do it every few months for ideas and to refresh my wardrobe. Great alternative to stitch fix etc.

Snally82 · 28/11/2021 22:33

My Lookiero was FAR older in style than the clothes I get from StitchFix. It was all awful and some really terrible quality

EachandEveryone · 28/11/2021 22:37

I’ve had some lovely dresses from stitch fix recently so ask to change your stylist?
