Utility trousers

I really want some utility/cargo style trousers, straight leg, not tapered or rolled hem or polyester. I also want them with a mid rise, not high, I am so over endlessly high waisted clothes, it's like having a second bra under my boobs fgs!

So! Do they exist? I used to wear them in the late 90's, they were everywhere and really suited me. Always looked amazing on the arse.

I like chino's, but they often fit like skinny jeans and have no arse pockets.

Where did you get them in the late 1990s?

Would Gap or Urban Outfitters have any?
You could try M&S, H&M, etc

ILoveShula · 29/07/2021 10:13

these?

ILoveShula · 29/07/2021 10:18

these
or these?

RusholmeRuffian · 29/07/2021 10:22

I've been looking for the exact same thing. I am starting to think they don't exist.

TollgateDebs · 29/07/2021 10:30

As someone who is large of stomach, small of bum / thigh, I think that men's trousers are the way to go and certainly have been successful with some great linen versions lately. Why not look at men's versions and they are usually cheaper and made better imo. Try Tu

ILoveShula · 29/07/2021 10:46

I was looking for some cheap joggers in Pirmark a few months ago and the men's had pockets but the women's for the same price didn't.

Also, Levi's women's jeans have tiny pockets and the men's have deep ones.

I'll have a look at Tu. George & F&F might have some, or Fat Face, White Stuff and the like.

Thanks everyone!
I used to get them in any old cheap store back then, the material was usually cotton and they were much thicker.
Now, in the equivalent stores, they fit badly and are super thin and cheap, same old story I suppose.

Closest I have found are hiking pants, which I will probably go for as I do a lot of walking outdoors!

There's also this mad tendency that everything has to be a tapered ankle and super high waist now, so anything 'fashion' doesn't cut it.

I'd try the men's section in a supermarket @ConfusedParticle, or some of the toolstation type places. I usually need to go up a size in men's trousers (28" waist instead of size 8)

Is it this type you are after? Sold out but there will be other ones

ILoveShula · 30/07/2021 14:12

I don't think they are sold out. I quite like them.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 30/07/2021 16:27

I love these M&S ones they're not high-waisted and although cuffed at the ankle they don't really look tapered when on.

Urban outfitters or Dickies - Vans have some nice looking options as well. Also search 'skate trousers' as well as utility / cargo / combat, that seems to pick up good options I find. (Been wearing combats since the 1980s, so love when they're in fashion!)

Sadik · 30/07/2021 16:40

Also, depends how utility you mean, but if you like proper combats & aren't too small, these look like a good bet.

Nengineer · 30/07/2021 16:42

I purchase these for my team. Amazon and Alexander have a great range

Lovemusic33 · 30/07/2021 17:27

I have the M&S ones and love them, I wear them a lot, I might actually buy another pair.

Waterfallgirl · 30/07/2021 18:13

Another vote for the m and s ones, they have full length or 3/4 length I have both. Comfortable and good quality not thin material .
