Sandals for sightseeing!

Please tell me your recommendations for good, comfortable sandals for a long city sightseeing trip.

Not dead flat, small incline needed but no "heels", obviously!

Thank you for all the replies Smile I'm looking into all of them. Just spent an age on both fitflop and hotter sites.
I think these are in the running, what do we think?

Not decided, I'm so unsure. I have vast previous experience of having massive problems with uncomfortable shoes, I have so many discarded flat shoes! More so than heels, weirdly.

And other stories have Teva sandals which are perfect for this.

Would definitely recommend sandals that are designed for walking (as oppose to sandals that just happen to be flat). Makes a huge difference. Nothing worse than sore feet on a city break!

I currently have Karrimor Tuvalu and they are soooo comfortable and don't look too bad. We went on a coastal walk that was longer than we realised. 10 miles and no sore feet!

MadamBatty · 30/07/2021 08:38

The straps on those sandals look too thin & would certainly cut my feet after an hour.

MadamBatty · 30/07/2021 08:51

I agree that sandals specifically designed for walking are a better bet.

Dr Martens sandals, Voss. I have two pairs, the standard ones and the big platforms. They’re honestly amazing and I could walk for miles on them.

Karrimor walking sandals. Usually on sale in Sports Direct. They last years and the sole is very supportive.

I got teva ones recently and they are so comfy! Mid form I think, so slightly raised. I got mine from schuh. My dd 10 got them first then convinced me to get the same as her, she still loves a twin Grin

samlovesdilys · 31/07/2021 10:06

I have a pair of hush puppies sandals, I wore them with thick socks around the house for a week or so before I went to get them 'comfy'!! V attractive look at the time but worked!!

Thecatisboss · 31/07/2021 10:09

I have teva walking sandals which are brilliant

StCharlotte · 31/07/2021 12:59

I fifth Birkenstocks. My Mayaris have taken me all over many a city break.

Another vote for DMs - I have the standard Voss and the Olsen zip up ones and whilst the latter took a bit of breaking in with socks, they are amazing.

I was running late the other day when it was pouring with rain, had to semi-sprint for the tube and they didn't budge - my balance isn't good and I'm always terrified of slipping over when it's wet. I'm sure they would take on all terrains just fine.

Beebumble2 · 31/07/2021 19:57

Another vote for Hotter. Many of their styles are ‘granny’ but their sandals are sooo comfortable for sight seeing.
There’s money off at the moment.

Beebumble2 · 31/07/2021 19:58

I’d also consider how heavy the sandal is. Heavy sandals make walking weary.

happytoday73 · 31/07/2021 20:05

These are great and can wear whereever

They do a cheaper version... Tighter on ankle... Navy ones have toe straps with give, purple ones are tighter

SunSeaSurfGin · 31/07/2021 20:15

I get on with moshulu sandals

Lovemusic33 · 31/07/2021 20:17

I all miles in my teva sandals, they are light and comfortable.

LoveFall · 31/07/2021 20:22

I swear by my Columbia sandals. I have worn them while sightseeing etc. they aren't fashionable but I have had compliments. Mine are white.

They fit even my narrow feet as the straps adjust.

Far from fashionable, but these Skechers ones are SO comfortable:

These are great, couldn't see them on Hotter website but found some on eBay. Really comfy and supportive.

I'm currently on holiday....the only shoes I have worn are my DM Voss II. So comfy. Walked up mountains (well, hills), across beaches, coastal paths. No breaking in required either.
