Maternity Wear that's not actually Maternity Wear

Hi there. Am sure this has been asked multiple times but looking for inspiration! I am looking for outfits that can accommodate my bump but isn't necessarily sold as maternity wear and can be stylish through pregnancy and beyond. I have a few loose dresses from H&M and Cos that are great but curious if anyone has any great finds they want to share...?
Thanks in advance :)

You may disagree with whether they're stylish (they certainly look better with a smaller waist!) but my Lucy and Yak Alexa trousers still fit round my massive bump.

I just used to size up in normal clothes.
Only maternity wear I had was work trousers

I’m in a hot country which I think is easier in this respect - I’m currently living in big floaty maxi dresses, kaftans, beach cover ups etc that were already in my wardrobe.

Following for a bit of inspiration

Which dresses do you have OP?

ILoveShula · 28/07/2021 13:38

Years ago, probably in the eighties, I read in some magazine that a designer (maybe Karl Lagerfeld) said that the way to dress with a bump was a man's shirt over leggings. I think it was in something like Times or Telegraph weekend colour supplement and an answer to how he'd style Princess Di's bump. yes, I'm old

Other suggestion is a loose beach dress.

Never Fully Dressed always market their (mostly beautiful) dresses as bump and breastfeeding friendly. I guess you'd have to size up in some of them to accommodate a larger bump though.

I have a couple that have been amazing. I bought my usual size and I am now still wearing them at 37 weeks.

These two are my absolute favourites.

The PM's mrs wore tiered dresses.

Hi @AvantGardening
I just bought this beauty: www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/womenswear/dresses/product.sleeveless-maxi-dress-turquoise.0986031001.html
And
www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/womenswear/dresses/product.sleeveless-maxi-dress-turquoise.0986031001.html

Which are great for work and super comfortable. The H&M ones are tunic style that work with leggings- can’t find them as I actually bought them several months ago.

I'm due in December, and as we head into the cooler months I think I'm going to buy a couple of knitted dresses in a size (or 2) up - those will be useful pp as well. I'm not going for the loose smock/tiered dress look as those just aren't me, so I wouldn't wear them next year.

Having said that @Dogsandbabies I love that OB dress and had the Zara one in the wishlist on my app :)

My Hush harems fitted right until the end, and were nice and comfy afterwards. I also wore a loose shirt over a vest and leggings a lot. The Jojo maternity vests with the built in support panel are great.

borntobequiet · 29/07/2021 16:07

I wore my denim dungarees up to 8+ months in 1980 with elastic round the buttons for the last couple of weeks. It would probably be a terrible fashion faux pas nowadays.

KittenKong · 29/07/2021 16:14

I bought a couple of pairs of trousers that were maternity (list elasticity at the top - very comfy at the end) and wore baggy shirts.

Empire line can suite a bump and not as it skims over the body from just under the bust.
