couldn’t live without facial products? Looking for some inspo to try some new products but don’t want to spend the earth.

I have quite sensitive skin prone to breakouts more so when it’s the time of the month around my jaw & some large pores in areas.

I’m currently using facetheory clarifying cleanser which I quite like & I’ve just finished using PIXI glow tonic but I’ve read good things about the REN or Paula’s choice BHA.

Please tell me your recommendations!

Beauty Pie Japanfusion cleanser feels amazing.

I also had some good results form Skin&Me serum but sadly the £20 monthly payment wasn't affordable for me at the time. My skin definitely felt a lot better. Must renew that one actually.

Ambre Solaire SPF 50 facial spray that goes over makeup, total game changer and no grease or movement of makeup.

Green People Sensitive Anti-ageing 24 hour cream. Love it and have used for years. Am 50 this year if that's relevant but I initially started using it because I prefer natural products and get migraines from scented products.

I shall be doing a lot of googling later with these recommendations thank you all. LRP sounds popular.

Microblading
Botox
Clinque soap

TheMildManneredMilitant · 27/07/2021 16:06

I'm not a proper skin junkie so some of these could probably be swapped out, but Clinique Take the day off (with a flannel/cloth), Alpha h liquid gold, and Lumene Nordic C glow boost essence.

Galassia · 27/07/2021 16:30

Vaseline.
Dr Jackson’s 02 night cream.
Kiehls Rosewater.

Two and three might change but are my current favourites. Vaseline will always be my number one product.

What do you use Vaseline for exactly?
Hotmess1 · 27/07/2021 18:47

@BobbinThreadbare123

]] *@Hotmess1* it is very close to this one, but a different colour.
Brilliant, looking at it now - thanks!!

Prai neck cream (M&S sell it) is my absolute fave.

polkadotpjs · 27/07/2021 21:02

I think I'm terminally dissatisfied. Or just a junkie for new stuff. I have liked the Roche Posay blue face wash though. And body wise I love palmers cocoa butter but see it as a treat (why? I spend on wine. Why ding I make my legs smooth and smell of white chocolate?!)

WellTidy · 27/07/2021 21:09

I’ve used it on and off for 25 years. Whenever I decide to try something cheaper/newer/recommended I always regret it. It is Estée Lauder day wear creme for dry skin in a 50ml pot. It is about £30.

I also love Elemis rose facial exfoliator whenever I have spots. It seems to gently dry them and really speeds up the healing process. I have no idea why. It lasts me ages as a little goes a long way and I only use it when I need to.

Aquaphor for lips. Best lip creme by far.

I swear by a double cleanse, using an oil first (I use one with vitamin C by Superfacialist, great to melt the make up off), followed by washing my face with CeraVe wash. Then I follow it with a damp cotton of Pixi Glow Tonic (glycolic acid based), and then a vitamin C serum with hyaluronic acid or with retinol, depending on whether it’s morning or evening. Then add moisturiser HydraGenius Hyaluronic.
I used to be much more laid back with my skincare but in the past 2 years I’ve started to do this routine at least once a day (especially the double cleanse) and lots of people tell me that my skin looks great, despite the fact that I have quite oily skin that is prone to breakouts.

I should add that even though the initial outlay was a bit on the expensive side for me when I started, all the products last loads. Also, shop around for your products and try them out by buying travel sizes or samples before you commit to buying bigger sizes.
Fififerry1 · 28/07/2021 20:09

La Roche Posay for cleansing and moisturising
Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid serum night and morning.
And my major new discovery - Nivea tinted moisturiser instead of foundation. I can’t believe how good it is - and certainly no worse than any of the many (very expensive) foundations I have used.

Cotswoldmama · 28/07/2021 20:54

Skin&me subscription and boots Soltan SPF 50 for face and I double up using mabelline Urban something foundation with SPF 50. You can use my code if you want to trial a month of skin&me it's LAURENS7YP3

MakeMathsFun · 28/07/2021 22:47

I apply lemon juice applied directly to the face for 20 minutes once every two days, then rinse off. Do not get in eyes! Very inexpensive, totally natural and it dissolves dead skin through repeated use. After rinsing, rub a little (about half a teaspoon) of olive oil in to soothe. Any rashes, stop immediately.
Also, try to swim in the sea (salty) or swimming pool (Chlorine) at least once per week, ensuring you submerge your face. A bucket of cold salty water is the cheaper alternative to the swimming pool.
If you can get access to a sauna once per month, sweating out the toxins works really well too.
Another way is to rub olive oil into your face. Then rub in fine table salt. Leave for 20 minutes. Rinse off. The salt literally draws out moisture, bringing the toxins with it.
Finally, avoid touching your face. Face touching is the number one way of getting skin irritations. It costs nothing to avoid it, but can be difficult. Avoid makeup.
Otherwise, I would stay clear of all the chemical products that lay claim to self-proclaimed excellence. Often they are filled with all kinds of chemicals (including dead animal) and synthetic perfumes, which only make it worse.
Finally, avoid foods with high fat or high sugar content. A healthy diet with lots of greens and raw garlic will help too.
So, lemon juice, salty water, healthy food and raw garlic - much simpler than chemical blitz. Also, freshly chopped ginger and mint leaf in hot water (with honey to taste) can be sipped slowly to help detoxify once per week too.

Thanks @Cotswoldmama - I’ve tried skin&me I was on it for 6 months but I was fed up of the dry skin it was causing & as petty as it sounds it annoyed me you can’t get your eyebrows waxed as I hate threading.

OP posts:
floofycroissant · 29/07/2021 10:30

No waxing at all Tinks? Shock I am so lazy/slap dash with skincare the idea of 1 product appealing

imstilljenny2 · 29/07/2021 13:14

@floofycroissant I use tretinoin from Dermatica and get my eyebrows waxed no problem. I don't apply it on my eyelids though so perhaps that's why.

Tinks15 · 29/07/2021 13:23

I didnt use to either @imstilljenny2 but people kept telling me no waxing whatsoever. Maybe it’s worth thinking about again & if so just finding a decent moisturiser I can slap on.

OP posts:
imstilljenny2 · 29/07/2021 13:38

@Tinks15 yes I saw that too.
I get dry skin with tret if I apply it too often but now only use it two or three times a week which seems to be the sweet spot between getting a glow and avoiding dry, flaky skin.
