Talk to me about sheet masks

I really like the idea of sheet masks, but have only found very few which don't leave a filmy, sticky residue on your face. Where shall I look? I gave a dry skin prone to blackheads but no actual acne or breakouts, so the idea of a very hydrating sheet mask is appealing. I've just not found good ones!

They are just a gimmick, waste of money and unnecessary waste materials as well. I wouldn't bother.

TableNiner · 24/07/2021 10:02

I agree they are a bit of a gimmick and not sure they are that great for the environment as many come in a foil type packet. I do buy them sometimes but am trying to move across to something in a tube where it doesn’t feel so wasteful. Your daily routine is what makes most difference anyway.

Jackgrealishscurtains · 24/07/2021 10:37

Yes, I agree that daily routine is most important. I think there are some nice hydrating masks in tubes or jars out there, although I don't have any recommendations myself. I use hyaluronic acid every day which I feel makes a big difference to hydration for me.

Could you try using your usual moisturiser but putting lots on and a flannel on your face?

JMAngel1 · 24/07/2021 10:43

Ooh I love a sheet mask - they are so squelchy and juicy and leave skin so plump. They are my me time in the bath.

I love Innisfree or Etude House but any Korean one is good.
I would do one every day if I could but probably more like once or twice a week.

Pigtailsandall · 24/07/2021 11:25

@JMAngel1 thanks! I've heard of Innisfree but not Etude House so I'll check them out.

I just got rid of tons of jars of mask-type stuff because I didn't use them so no point in getting more. A single mask has a bit of a sense of occasion and I don't often have a chance to use them, so they won't go off like tubes and jars of stuff

Awful for the environment aren’t they?

Pigtailsandall · 24/07/2021 12:26

They probably aren't best for the environment but then again there's threads about shopping in Primark etc other fast fashion places and that's probably even less good for the environment....

Probably everyone buys something that's individually wrapped/packaged at some point unless everyone is zero waste?

Dr Jart ones are fun.

Pingued · 24/07/2021 12:28

And there were some garnier ones i saw where they had reduced the packaging and I think you can compost them

catfunk · 24/07/2021 12:36

If you're dehydrated op I highly recommend Weleda skin food in the green tube on before bed. It's not the sort of thing you could hse under make up but my skin feels amazing the following day - better than when I use expensive oils !
