Bras after weight loss

I've lost a significant amount of weight and need new bras. I've tried a few and am struggling with the band size!

Boob and bust measurement gives me deep ridges around the band, as I have looser skin there now.

I tend to buy budget bras, Asda have always been great for me. I quite like a foam cup as I'm a pear and it balances me up a bit!

Before I go to Asda and buy every bra in the place and try them all on at home and take them all back, disappointed, does anyone have any advice?

So far I've tried matalan, as I was there, but had to take them all back, all sizes, all styles. Most disappointed!

Maybe go to Bravissimo for a fitting?

What bra size does boob or bust give?
You could try a sister size by going up in the band and down in the cup e.g. if you measure 34D then a sister size would be 36C. If you are 32E then sister size is 34DD

picklemewalnuts · 21/07/2021 08:15

I'm not particularly big busted, isn't Bravissimo good for bigger busts? I'm expecting to be a 36C, more or less.

I suppose I was hoping someone would know of a style/seller that has wide supportive back bands that don't cause rolls of skin to pop out above and below. Confused

One of my friends has lost a lot of weight and has loose skin, she finds sports bras are the best for her now

dementedpixie · 21/07/2021 08:16

But what do you measure as?
What dress size are you?
I'm a 36 back at a size 20/22

picklemewalnuts · 21/07/2021 08:19

That's what I did with the Matalan bras, pixie. They were just shockingly awful regardless of size! They sort of twisted and rose up and down. So bad, that I didn't look closely at the cause of the issue.

I was so disappointed. Makes weight loss feel very double edged, frankly, when you look worse than you started!

I'll measure again later because I've lost weight since the last try, which was 36C.

@2andahalfpints Sports bras work around the back, but flatten the boob which as a pear is unhelpful. Unless there are Booby sports bras that emphasise the cup rather than containing it?

Riding up suggests back size is too big. Maybe try a branded bra

picklemewalnuts · 21/07/2021 08:22

Oh and I'm about a size 16 at the moment, pixie, for what it's worth- dress size measurements can be a bit vague.

What's that, pixie? How will I recognise one?

I wouldn't even attempt to get a decent fitting bra from a supermarket. Go and get fitted at bravissimo.

dementedpixie · 21/07/2021 08:24

I buy quite a few bras from brastop and they are branded rather than supermarket own make. Bigger selection of sizes too

picklemewalnuts · 21/07/2021 08:26

Doh! I misread your post, saw 'banded' not branded. Ok thanks I'll do that, but I'll wait until I'm my final size. I've got 2 or 3 stone to go yet, and don't want a £40 bra that's too big!

Why not try a crop top style with padded cups as a stopgap.
I wear unpadded ones from pound shop for when I'm WFH

Well done on the weight loss.
