Has anyone bought one? Would you recommend it? I’m sick of shaving and hate waiting for waxing appointments. I’ve had a cheap version but it’s not great I’m wondering if I need to bite the bullet and buy a proper one. Or is there something else you’d suggest?

I love mine.
My legs rarely need shaving Now. Maybe every 6 weeks I shave.

Armpits slowed massively too.

It's best on darker hair. I'm dark blond but I find it still works ok

For some weird reason it doesn't work on my knees tho. Hmm

Ninkanink · 19/07/2021 13:14

I have one and I’d definitely recommend it! Well worth every penny (as long as your hair/skin combination is within the acceptable perimeters for it to work, of course).

Camrette · 19/07/2021 13:15

Mine is great for stopping the 5 o clock shadow and skin bumps on bikini line. I do have to keep on top of it though, didn’t use it for a couple of months and back to square 1. Doesn’t work on my armpits. Find it too time consuming on legs so rarely bother.

EvelynBeatrice · 19/07/2021 13:18

Believe works brilliantly for some people - gave me folliculitis ( chickenpox like rash due to inflamed hair follicles) which ruined a holiday and cost me private antibiotic prescription.) I also now get rash whenever shave which may be connected. If you take the plunge maybe try it out on a discreet area first before doing whole leg.

swapsicles · 19/07/2021 13:20

They are good but pricey, I had a lumea which worked great, now I've stopped using it I've noticed the difference but can't afford a new one.
NoNo s always seem to have low reviews so wouldn't go for those myself.
Tbh I'd only need one for my face but if you have the patience for all over then you'd probably need to spend a bit more.

sazzt · 19/07/2021 13:23

I tried one but have ended up going back to waxing. I find it really time consuming and a not brilliant result (plus you really need to keep on top of it regularly as a pp said and I didn't find that easy to do)

Ericaceae · 19/07/2021 20:04

I love mine- it's been amazing on my legs, bikini line, and armpits. I'm now shaving my legs maybe once a week/once every two weeks instead of once a day (or twice a day if I was going out Blush )
Huge difference in my skin too because I'm kit shaving all the time - no ingrown on my bikini line, hallelujah, and my legs are smooth and soft rather than dry and irritated.
If I was buying one again, I wouldn't bother paying extra for cordless. It takes longer between flashes if it's not plugged in, so I never use it that way.

minipie · 19/07/2021 20:08

Yeah similar to PPs it didn’t work brilliantly for me, I am pale ish with dark blonde hair (darker hair on calves). It was time consuming and boring and I still needed to shave even after multiple sessions, so have ditched it and started salon lasering instead. Pricier of course but easier and SO much more effective.

Ninkanink · 19/07/2021 20:16

I agree, no need to pay for cordless - I use mine plugged in as well. I do it whilst watching/listening to YouTube videos or television programmes so I don’t find it boring or tedious, plus I like the repetitive actions - I find it quite relaxing and therapeutic. It takes about an hour to do everything and I only need to do it every few months now, maybe 3 times a year.

Purplecatshopaholic · 19/07/2021 23:33

Love mine, it was a game changer and worth every penny. I’m pale skinned with dark hair

womaninatightspot · 19/07/2021 23:36

I swear by an epilator, the benefits of waxing but so cheap.

LonelinessIsACloakYouWear · 19/07/2021 23:44

Mine does a brilliant job on bikini line but it hasn't worked well at all on my legs. I don't know why. i've obviously got the technique right. I found out after purchase that I couldn't use on my underarms as i use a long lasting anti perspirant (Driclor). It was a lot of money, but as a daily swimmer, it's been slightly disappointing but on the whole worth it for bikini line alone.

BippityBoppity87 · 19/07/2021 23:47

Yes I got one near the end of May. Lumea Prestige. I would say currently, mixed results, but I'm going too keep persevering. Underarms, brilliant. After 2 months, hardly any hair at all. Same as my forearms and bottom legs (I'm quite hairy Blush)

Thighs, chin and neck, not a huge difference as of yet. And I have pale skin and black hairs. Might just be that those areas take a little longer, but have had fantastic results in the other areas

howrudeforme · 19/07/2021 23:57

As someone with almost black hair and olive skin game changer in my 50’s. My understanding is that you need a huge contrast between hair and skin colour.

So my origins make me hairy and also Polycystic ovaries on top of that.

I’d bleach my moustache but didn’t realise I’d gone from black to platinum blonde. For decades 😳

Now I touch up once every month or two with lumea.

Legs hairier than a man. Now touch up every 3 weeks - my issue is eyesight not great and. I miss sections.

Armpits hair free and I touch up every three weeks (takes me less than 5mims).

But it doesn’t work for everyone.

bonfireheart · 20/07/2021 00:02

Would DD13 be OK to use this on her armpits?

Letsrunabath · 20/07/2021 00:08

Love it, had one for 4 years and I’m lucky if I use it 3 times a year after following the initial guidelines. Love the fact you don’t get the little black dots of future hair growth.
It’s been my no 1 purchase f all beauty products.

bonfireheart · 20/07/2021 00:10

@Letsrunabath which model do you have please?

Letsrunabath · 26/07/2021 17:08

Limes Prestige

Futurecatmum2 · 26/07/2021 21:18

After using mine on my face and arms I developed lots of little brown and red freckles that have never gone away (I wear SPF50 daily on my face and have never had this problem before so can only assume it was caused by the Lumea, although I obviously can’t prove it). So I’d say approach with caution, personally. I found it too much of a faff anyway in the end, which was doubly annoying!

@bonfireheart - I wouldn’t give it to a 13yo as skin is so sensitive at that age (according to the paperwork it’s only for age 15 or 16+ IIRC)
