ok. i'm fancying some of that fabby sparkly eyeliner, like the urban decay stuff, but i'm unsure whether i should go for the col,our most flattering to my eyes or to match my outfit???
i am looking at the green one.....just because i like the colour. my eyes are greeny grey, and my main outfit is black with denim.....
in fact, what is the most flattering colour make up for greeny/grey eyes?

There's a woman here at work who tries to match her eye shadow with the colour of her clothes and she looks a fright on the days she's wearing bright yellow or barbie pink I can tell you!

hoxtonchick · 26/11/2007 10:13

ooh,i have exactly that eyeliner, it's lovely. i have brown eyes, mousey hair & pale skin. i think the green will work well with your outfit. i'm not even sure mine suits me that well i just loved the colour (& got it from debenhams with nectar points so it was free ).

Def go for the colour that best suits your face - your face doesn't clash with your clothes!!!I am mildly addicted to eyeshadow as I have already posted once. My fave is napoleon perdis, his colours are amazing and really strong and pure and i use the waterproof stuff to mix in so it stays on for hours and can be used for eyeliner as well if you have a liner brush(there's even a glitter one). I could go on for hours... I wear the colour that suits my mood. If you're buying your first, go for one you wouldn't feel uncomfortable wearing day to day.Greeny grey eyes match most colours - turquoise? brown?

thanks girls.
i only wear minimal make up most of the time...concealer, mascara, touch of blusher and lip gloss. i HATE dressing up at any time, so when i go out, i am thinking that my make up will make me look a bit more glam....i can do eyeshadow in soft colours, but am scared to try the new bright colours, although i love the look of them! thought that eyeliner was not too much! lol
when you wear the dead bright shiny colours, do you have to wear heavier make up anywhere else to balance it out???
god...you'd think i didn't have a clue!! (i don't!!) i'm 32, quite funky in my own way(!) lol and have short brown/highlighted bobbed hair......
any inspiration and confidence most welcome! x

never match eye makup to the outfit

always wear what suits your eye colour

I would say green may over power the colour of you eyes, but without seeing who knows.

Contrasting colour is usually better.

makeup tips for green eyes

hoxtonchick · 26/11/2007 10:57

i wear very neutral (but shiny) lipstick/gloss when i have sparkly eyes. or else i think it's overkill....

nailpolish · 26/11/2007 11:03

this is what i wear most days. i have green eyes too. you only need a sweep, and a bit of blending.

lispy · 26/11/2007 22:21

If you're going for bold eyes the best lipstick is clinique black honey. I give this to everyone for birthdays and xmas! I first heard about it when the makeup artist for friends said it was the best It basically makes your lips one shade darker and adds a nice sheen but not gloss. I use it instead of lip chap every day. It's great if you don't usually wear makeup.

brimfull · 27/11/2007 12:48

lipsy-that sounds like just what I'm looking for.Thanks.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 27/11/2007 13:05

Reading this with interest as I have green eyes. I seem to always wear taupe eyeshadow and if I am going out I do a bit of highlighting with Christian Dior shades of white with the taupe. I buy other colours frequently but always drift back to sludge. The CD 5 shades of white compact together with my Lancome mascara is my most useful bit of make-up kit (especially on tired days).

mellyonion · 27/11/2007 13:33

thanks again all...lipsy, i think i once owned one of those lippies....conveniently, i just happen to have a birthday coming up, and nothing on my wish list!

i just bought a cheapy collection 2000 sparkly gel liner this morning...it looks bloody ace, i must say! (if a little tarted up for the school run, lol)

on the advice of everyone here, i went for the goldy colour one instead of the green which i initially wanted, and it realy makes my eyes look brighter, more defined and draws attention to them.........
woo hoo! cheers! x

just one last note, clinique stopped making black honey a bit back but brought it back, i think i'm responsible for floating the company some times, one year went through 6 of them myself (kept losing them!!)

Get a pallette of colours that accentuate your eyes - not green itself as it is too close to your eye colour, try browns, creams and peach?

Wearing eye shadow to match your outfit reminds me of Coronation Street's Kelly - she had a yello ensemble on on Monday !
