Budget?
I am sensitive to breakouts if I use the wrong products but get on well with Sunday Riley CEO cream. It’s £££ though

MouldyPotato · 11/07/2021 07:43

Have you tried anything already?

toomuchfaster · 11/07/2021 07:55

Use something else? Your post is way too vague: what are you wanting it for? Why do you insist on using something that clearly doesn't agree with your skin? Would you like alternative products that do the same job? What is that job??

Scared129 · 11/07/2021 08:27

I don't know if you have the same problem as me but if I don't use nice products my skin is very dehydrated and the odd spot. If I use vitamin c creams I break out madly. It's really depressing as it's been like this for years and I've not had an answer. I've recently read that the breakouts you get with stuff like vit c is a good thing, and it's a bit of a purging process so apparantly you have to stick with it. To counteract the spots I'm using retinol at night. Seems to be working so far, fingers crossed my skin adjusts

I’ve tried a lot of vitamin C serums and the best I’ve ever used is Medik8 C Tetra Luxe. It is very strong though.

Do you have sensitive skin? Is that what’s causing breakouts?

Not everyone can handle Vit C. The Jordan Samuel Skin antioxidant serum is a great alternative. Does the same thing but without the Vitamin C.

Tinks15 · 11/07/2021 08:47

I do have sensitive skin & most things do break me out tbh so I have to be careful.
I hear so many people & read a lot of things that you should use a vit c.
I get that it doesn’t suit everyone but it’s worth trying a few ones if it doesn’t I find something else.
I don’t have a huge budget but happy to spend a little.

I have sensitive skin and have been using Vitaskin Vitamin C Oil from Holland and Barrett. I really prefer an oil to a serum for my skin.

I've also tried the night cream which I also like, but much prefer the oil.

WindFlower92 · 11/07/2021 12:31

I quite like SuperFacialist Vit C Serum, feels quite light!

Geamhradh · 11/07/2021 12:37

My favourites have been Vichy LiftActiv and Timeless. Both are a "water" consistency. The Vichy is a repeat purchase, but I've just started using Timeless which is a much bigger bottle and it seems identical other than its 20% l-ascorbic rather than the 15 of the Vichy so will probably continue with that. No problems with either.

I hated The Ordinary (as I've hated pretty much anything I've tried from them) Garden of Wisdom was OK but an oily consistency that I didn't like (and I didn't see the results I saw from the Vichy) and I chucked the Roche Posay down the sink as that was just like orange slime.

OverByYer · 11/07/2021 12:40

Berrocca?

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/07/2021 12:50

If you mean a vitamin c serum type thing, I like the one from Nip and Fab. I tried ones from The Ordinary but they didn’t agree with my skin, the Nip and Fab one is lovely - feels light and sinks in beautifully. I have sensitive, dry skin.

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 11/07/2021 13:23

I've been using the Vichy one. I have the most sensitive skin and am allergic to most things, but I haven't reacted to this. Can't say I have noticed any improvement in my skin though.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 11/07/2021 13:25

I use the Beauty Pie Vit C capsules, I have quite sensitive skin, I love them

MouldyPotato · 11/07/2021 13:26

There's some vitamin c samples on feel unique's sample thing if you wanted to try some without spending loads.

Introduction of actives into skincare can cause purging which may be mistaken for breakouts.

I initially used Garden of Wisdom C Deep serum with the more stable form of THD bit C in squalene. No breakouts but I wasn’t utterly convinced it was doing a lot as it’s effectiveness isn’t as well researched as l-ascorbic acid. Maybe it did allow my skin to accustomise to vit C though because when I converted to GOW 15% Vit C + Ferulic + Vit E, I didn’t purge.

GonnaBeYoniThisChristmas · 11/07/2021 17:13

Not Garden of Wisdom. That broke me out hugely. The Ordinary seems to be better.

Geek and gorgeous is great. Scientifically formulated.
It ships from Hungary though - so to make it worth it / you’ll need to choose a few items.
The jelly cleanser is also very nice.

withlotsoflove · 11/07/2021 18:35

It’s also a proper vitC- not a derivative. :)
15%
C- glow.
