what hair style does your dd have?

I don't really like putting this in "style and beauty" - seems a bit grown up - but heigh ho! dd1's hair is a complete nightmare - it's in a bob and is horribly straggly - it just looks lank all the time. has anyone got a dd with short hair? or layered? or any variation on the all one length bob? I need some inspiration - the bob thing is really not working. not in its current form anyway.

pic on profile but can't see her hair too well. It's the third one down

My 4 year old dd has just had her very fine and difficult to manage long hair cut into a graduated bob - the back is very short and layered which adds thickness, and the length of the front is about midway between chin and jawbone. It is so much easier to look after now.

expatinscotland · 24/11/2007 22:23

my 4-year-old has hair to die for. chesnut coloured, with lots of gold streaks, not too thick nor too fine, curly on the ends, and hangs down to the middle of her back with a fringe in front that she has cut every other month or so.

i love her hair far more than mine and pamper it in all manner of ways - from top quality shampoos to a Mason-Pearson hairbrush to a huge assortment of baubles, grips, scrunchies and elastics for it.

dd2 will be 2 next month, and whilst her hair is the same colour as dd1's, it's much finer and not as long. she has a fringe in front, also cut every other month or so, and will not tolerate any baubles, clips, etc.

Mine, with fine hair have it long, I just can't bear to cut it an i fear it would go straggly if it was bobbed, the length gives it some weight and volume, plus it's pure blonde which looks amazing.

I just don't know, Hatwoman - have been growing dd's fringe out for ages but not sure...

Watching thread eagerly!

Gingerbear · 24/11/2007 23:53

long - way down her back- used to be wavy, but is now straighter as it is so thick and heavy. Takes an age to brush. I wish she would have it cut.

Dd has a graduated bob and it looks gorgeous. I do run the straighteners through it now and again and I think this helps. She is 8 btw.

DarthVader · 25/11/2007 17:43

My dd is 8 with fine hair. She has had a bob of some description since she was 5.

A short, classic bob with a fringe is my fave, although she has also had more layers and an asymmetric fringe and an angled bob which was shorter at the back.

Her hair looks fab if I blow dry it, not quite so good otherwise as it has a bit of a natural wave. I think a bob reveals how good your hairdresser is, as it is quite a test of skill, especially on a kid!

5yo DD

Shoulder length bob with fringe

NomDePlume · 25/11/2007 17:46

DD has v fine flyaway hair so running the straighteners through it does realy help s she looks like a (rather gorgeous) scarecrow after sleeping on her freshly washd hair !

HonoriaGlossop · 25/11/2007 18:14

I agree with mrstittle...a layered short 'pixie' cut is just adorable and gorgeous on little girls, and I wish more people would go for it - long hair seems almost obligatory for girls and it actually doesn't really flatter many...girls look lovely anyway, of course, but I think if you get a haircut that really suits the child and the hair type then it's stunning.

Go short!

dinny · 26/11/2007 18:25

is it better to have a fringe or not with fine slightly wavy long-ish hair? can't decide for dd....

bossykate · 26/11/2007 18:27

dora the explorer.

TellusMater · 26/11/2007 18:28

Another Dora (age 3)

stepfordwife · 26/11/2007 18:35

hairstyle? if only...
i just dream of the heady day dd (2.6) has enough hair for a style

nutcracker · 26/11/2007 18:40

Dd1 has shoulder length straight, blonde hair that is very fine and quite fly away. Reading this thread I am wondering if I should get it cut into a graduated bob.
Thing is i like to tie it back cos of nits LOL.

DD2 has mousy thickish hair with lots of kinks in it, oh and a double crown. It is a nightmare and I was advised by a hairdresser to let it grow so that it could be tied back as most styles just won't sit right. She has a bit of an odd shaped head at the back which doesn't help.
She'd like it cut like Katie Holmes current style, but there is no way it would look anything like that.
