Fatface clothing

I've just recieved my first Fatface order and really like the majority of the items.
Do their clothes wash well or are they prone to shrinking?
Also, I really like the Ivy t-shirts. Do they bring out this style every year?
Thanks

They wash well, everything I have from there says not to to tumble dry, I’ve never disobeyed and it’s paid off so far!

Their kids clothes last really well too, I always buy them for my eldest knowing that they will last for hand me downs.

And yes, I’m pretty sure the ivy is one of their regulars

I’ve had loads of fatface gear. The dresses in the crinkly/crepey type fabric can shrink but I don’t pay attention to the care labels so I might be washing them wrong.
I’ve had a cardi that bobbled and shedded loads of fluff almost immediately but otherwise I’ve generally found their stuff to be long lasting and washing well. One dress must have been washed 50 times and still looks nice.

Oldraver · 09/07/2021 13:31

My favourite tunic is from there and I noticed it was starting to go thin in places...it is 10 years old though

Havisham · 09/07/2021 14:45

I had an £80 handbag from FF, with 6 months both ends of the shoulder strap had broken off, the lining has frayed at the seams and strap is fraying. Terrible quality, I got a full refund.

RockstarMartini · 09/07/2021 14:57

I've had clothes from there that have lasted me summer after summer and I really like their bags, good quality and a decent price for leather - a different experience from the poster above though.

They're one of the few places you can get nice clothes made with natural fibres rather than a sea of cheap polyester.

I have quite a few Fat Face tops which I've had for at least 3 years.
All cotton and still look good with no fading
I don't tumble them though

Cardboardeaux · 09/07/2021 16:41

I'm currently wearing a Fatface hoody I bought over 20 years ago - still looks fine!

Zparks · 09/07/2021 19:58

Like everywhere, the quality has gone down over the years but the few tops I have from them are years old and still fine

Costalatte · 09/07/2021 20:12

I’ve got items which I’m now on my 4th summer of wearing and am now starting to notice a bit of fading and elastic starting to loosen. I’m very impressed with how they have lasted

LolaSmiles · 09/07/2021 20:14

I've found them a mixed bag. Some jersey wrap style dresses lasted me years, but some knitwear recently has felt a bit cheap and left me worrying they wouldn't wash well.

TheWashingMachine · 10/07/2021 08:43

Kids clothes are great

TheRosesOfSuccess · 10/07/2021 08:46

I've always found their cotton stuff lasts well, but their knitted clothes are awful quality.

MartyHart · 10/07/2021 08:57

I don't think the quality is what it used to be but still better than most.

tiredoftiers · 10/07/2021 09:04

I find it a mixed bag. Bought a lovely crinkly dress just below knee washed once at 30C and is now a mini dress. Their hoodies are great however the zips usually fail way before the fabric even starts to look old.
Used to love the girls long cargo shorts but this summer they’ve stopped doing them and gone the same way as other retailers of shorter shorts for girls.
Some cotton tops etc, last for ages.

Mizydoscape · 10/07/2021 09:14

Stopped buying from Fatface after their treatment of customers and staff over the data breach earlier this year.

Quality has always been fine though.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 10/07/2021 09:26

My kids are almost exclusively FF via eBay now at 11 and 9, when smaller they would wear a lot of Boden but it is too cutesy/preppy as they got bigger.

I used to work for FF 20 years ago and it was better quality then, but it still isn't bad. Especially at sale prices. Some of it looks very dreary now, especially compared to the quite funky styles they used to have...but there is the odd jewel as well.

Just to give a countering perspective, I bought an £80 leather bag from there that is amazing. I've had it several years now and it's sturdy as hell. Thick, supple leather, nice lining, perfect slouchy style that I love. It's been stuffed with shopping and chucked around and still seems bulletproof!

The clothes I find hit and miss. I don't love their PJs, but have got some brilliant cashmere from them. And the men's stuff I've bought has been great quality (sadly, I find it is often the case, across many retailers, that men's clothes are made of superior fabric and to better standards than women's).

SuddenArborealStop · 10/07/2021 09:55

I've had dresses shrink and fade, cardigans bobble etc but agree the kids clothes last especially the hoodies , I only buy on sale though

VanillaAndOrange · 10/07/2021 12:58

I love Fat Face but my word of advice would be to be careful the first few times you wash things - they can leak colour quite badly.

ladygindiva · 10/07/2021 13:00

I bought a bundle of secondhand kids wear and the items were still in great nick even after mine had worn them loads.

PickAChew · 10/07/2021 13:04

I love their shirts. Almost always well made, pattern matched and last for years. I used to love their pyjamas but the last batch of tops I bought got scruffy and out of shape really quickly.

DH wears a lot of their stuff. Their jeans are great - often not stretch so they don't end up saggy.

HorriderHenry · 10/07/2021 13:04

I love their clothes, and wear them lots, but I do find some of their thinner fabric summer tops lose what shape they have white quickly, and are more likely to have buttons falling off etc.

PearlNextDoor · 10/07/2021 13:06

I used to hate their clothes but I bought a couple of peasant tops last summer and I'm still wearing them this year. So quality seems good.

ZenNudist · 10/07/2021 13:06

I have long sleeve t shirts from there. Everything is a bit frumpy. The clothes come up very large. I look at their clothes a lot but never find anything worth having.

Just bought shorts 2 t shirts and a hat for ds2. Cost a lot. Prefer next for kids tbh. Bit more modern. FF is going for that middle class look but end up looking the same as boden and John Lewis. The shorts I got as they were camo so bit nicer than the ones covered in fish!

MouldyPotato · 10/07/2021 13:32

Cardis and hoodies don't fair too well but the tops and dresses do but that might just be down to my washing skills.
