Tell me about teeth whitening

Hello

I am considering treating myself to teeth whitening. I am a big coffee and tea fan but have cut down a lot and got myself into better habits during pregnancy. Ditto red wine. But they remain more yellow than I like and I’d like to change that.

They’re alright shape and evenness-wide - one or two a little misaligned but not a major concern.

Can you tell me about your experiences with bleaching, veneers, any other methods fo whiten? Including costs and longevity if possible?

Thanks so much

I had my teeth whitened at my NHS dentist about 14 years ago. It was AMAZING. They made moulds of my teeth, did one whitening laser session for me, then you go home with the moulds and whitening gel. Every night for 2 weeks, you place gel in to the moulds, push on to your teeth and sleep in them. My teeth came up so white, people commented a lot. I've done maybe 2 top up since then, maybe once every 5 years. I kept the moulds, so for a refresh I just buy a tube of gel at £25. I think it cost me about £180 per set (upper/lower). My DH has tried multiple off the shelf treatments, but they really don't work.

Please go to a dentist if you can, rather than buy crap off the Internet or over the counter!

LOL, when I was on holiday, a Canadian guy said to me "Man, your teeth are SO white".

I’ve had it done at the dentist, around £300 for a check up, the molds and three syringes of treatment. I don’t have sensitive teeth usually and my teeth are in good health (never even had a filling) but the treatment made them so sensitive it was awful. I couldn’t do more than a couple of days in a row and nothing close to the 14 days course they usually recommend. I did get an improvement even just doing it less frequently and keeping the molds on for less time - my teeth weren’t that bad to start with - but it’s a bit of a commitment! Once it’s done, you can buy top up syringes to use to keep them white.

It’s fantastic made such a difference can thoroughly recommend. Yes to going to the dentist where they will take an impression and you add the gel to your mould. I used mine overnight for 14 days and now just when I fancy a top up
