Mascara for sensitive eyes

About 3 years ago I developed really reactive, sensitive eyes after years of wearing any old mascara.

Eye make up remover definitely makes it works so discovered Maybelline Collosal mascara which comes off with warm water. Absolutely brilliant.

Is there a common ingredient that people react to so I can avoid it? I just bought the new L'Oreal mascara Balm Noir Millions as I fancied a change, apparently it can be removed with water so I thought it would be the same as the Maybelline one but my eyes feel gritty already wearing it.Hmm

Anyone have any suggestions?

The only one I can wear is clinique high impact. Other brands make my eyes water.

Thanks, will look at that.

Have you thought of a clear one? Many people are allergic to the black pigments in eyelash/hair dyes. I think the clear mascara is similar to, if not the same as just hair gel. Can you have them permed and tinted after having a patch test? Then, you don't need mascara at all.

I loved Loreal but had the same. I moved to clinique which was fine allergy wise but smudged under eye which is obviously not acceptable at that price. I'm now on boots no 7 and that is great.

@Eleoura I like a bit of oomph rather than just clear , I used to tint my lashes but wouldn't risk it now.

@Golden2021which one do you use from No7?

I use No 7 Stay Perfect in a gold tube, it comes off with water

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/07/2021 13:44

I've used that gold tube one and sadly it sort of pinched my eye lashes , really odd and a shame as it worked.

I use clinique Lash power - it's a tubing formula and comes off with warm water. I've tried others and still keep going back to this, it's the best for me I've ever found, and I have sensitive watery eyes.

I think the tubing mascaras are supposed to be better for this sort of problem, Clinique do one which I have used and I’m currently using the glossier one. I think sali Hughes did a piece about them in the guardian ages ago which might be worth trying to dig out? Best of luck

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/07/2021 20:15

Thanks I'll check all these out Smile

Agree that tubing mascaras are the way forward. I've got a No7 one. They work in a different way to normal mascaras and they a really good for sensitive eyes.
If you don't like tubing mascaras, Clinique Naturally Glossy mascara has always been good for my sensitive eyes.

MouldyPotato · 11/07/2021 14:57

I would stick with tubing ones. The clinique one is my holy grail.

For non tubing La Roche-Posay do one for sensitive eyes but it needs remover to remove and my eyes couldn't handle it.
