Has anyone got rid of dark spots on the face?

Wingingonastar · 07/07/2021 18:51

I have one area on my cheek that I have noticed does not get covered by my foundation anymore Sad can anyone recommend something that will get rid of it? I have been using liquid gold for a couple of months snd that hasn’t changed it. It looks horrible now without make up.

Anything successful?

Led mask on green light lightens my sun damage. I also use skin and me and la Roche Posey colour correctors.

Athinginitself · 07/07/2021 19:51

I've got bad melasma patches under my eyes, been using dermatica for a couple of months and it has started to improve but I'm guessing it's going to take a while longer. Let me know if you want a referral code to try it.

nomorenightmares · 07/07/2021 20:04

@Athinginitself I'd be interested in the code, if it isn't too cheeky to ask for.

Athinginitself · 07/07/2021 20:09

No of course I think we both get some money off!

I name changed for obvious reasons but here are the sunspots faded on my face over a few weeks, I used eucerin pigment serum recommended by my dermatologist

You can have them lasered off

AuntLucy · 07/07/2021 20:24

Absolutely. Paid for a private dermatologist appt aged 36 for this exact prob. Was advised to use

NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash
And
Skinceuticals serum.

Plus a proper factor 50 sunscreen every day of the year.

Worked a treat. All sunspots gone in a year, still gone 10 years later.

Wingingonastar · 07/07/2021 22:26

@AuntLucy is there a specific serum? I’m not sure about that face wash, I have sensitive skin.

How do you know what the mark is? Is it a given it’s a sun spot even though I don’t lay out in the sun at all? Obviously I have been in the sun, I just mean I’m not a sunbather. It’s about the size of a two pence and it must have got darker as I said it shows through my foundation now Sad

I didn’t get on dermatologica products in the past. I’ll have a look at the eucerin one also thanks. Haven’t tried a light mask.

I would also like to know which serum AuntLucy. There seem to be a number of Skinceutical serum available. Thanks

Thanks for the code. I've given it a go!

AuntLucy · 08/07/2021 19:34

@TheStarofCountyDown @Wingingonastar its the vitamin c one, at £140 ish. Although to be fair, I couldn't justify the price after the first few bottles, so swapped to the Ordinary's retinol serum and the spots never came back. The foaming facewash is fierce stuff when you first start using it. I used it a couple of times a week to settle in and it felt like it had washed my actual skin off. Very acidic. Adjusted after about a month and now have no reaction at all, apart from very clean, blemish-free skin.

Athinginitself · 08/07/2021 21:09

@BlowDryRatNo problem! I had to start on every 2 days and now using some moisturiser before applying as my skin was very stingy but it does feel like its helping.

Timeless Vit C serum is a good dupe of the Skinceuticals one that @AuntLucy referee to, approx £25. Quite effective on pigmentation.

Wingingonastar · 09/07/2021 09:34

Thanks @Shmithecat2

That other stuff looks like it will be too harsh for my skin. I want something I can put on it overnight in an ideal world. I do get spots also, what a dream I am, so I have to watch what I use

Fastest and most efficient way of getting rid is IPL, imo. Topical treatment s take ages.

Daily SPF50, obvs.

Wingingonastar · 09/07/2021 14:02

@CatherineTheNotSoGreat I read about that my too reluctant as it’s on my face in case it goes weong!

I understand your worry, though tbh I had pretty much forgotten the risksBlush. I think lasers have come so far that it would be very difficult for it to go wrong these days. Might be worth a chat with a provider? Something to think about, maybe.

MythsandSparkles · 10/07/2021 07:02

I used to have a small patch just under my eye - I use Superdrug’s vitamin c eye roll on daily and it’s faded massively - I can still see it cos I know it’s there but no one else can (I’ve asked!).

It’s cheap as well and because it’s a roll on you can spot treat.

I also use primarks vitamin c serum - also really cheap!

I noticed a difference within 2 weeks or so using those two so would be worth a try before looking at laser?

Wingingonastar · 10/07/2021 14:53

I think I will try some producers before laser as I’m scared it will go wrong!

Thanks @MythsandSparkles I will definitely try that as it’s cheap!

Wingingonastar · 10/07/2021 14:55

@MythsandSparkles which one please there are a few?

MythsandSparkles · 10/07/2021 19:39

This is the Superdrug eye roll on

www.superdrug.com/Skin/Eye-Skincare/Eye-Creams/Superdrug-Vitamin-C-Brightening-Eye-Gel-15ml/p/734852

This is what the primark serum looks like,

incidecoder.com/products/primark-vitamin-c-brightnening-serum

The roll in is like £4 and the serum is £3 - I tend to stock up on the serum whenever I see it, I live in fear they’ll discontinue it!

Wingingonastar · 10/07/2021 21:19

Fab thanks so much

Dermatica is the only thing that’s worked for me,however you didn’t get on with it. Skin and me is a similar thing that is popular on here?
The Eucerin made no difference to my Melasma (mine was quite bad!)

moovinon · 11/07/2021 10:38

Just watching this as I have dark pigmentation above my upper lip and it makes me look like I've got a moustache 🙈.

I used Dermatica for a couple of months and it did start to work. I stopped using it and I can't quite remember why, but this summer the dark pigmentation came back as soon as I stopped using the it. I don't think I gave it enough of a chance though to be honest.

PRabbit · 11/07/2021 10:47

Retinol. The Ordinary is good. Plus sunscreen every day.
