All, in an effort to be more environmentally responsible and prudent I want to buy more items on eBay and less in shops. However I live in Ireland and shipping is always 15/20€ and I know that it can be cheaper (especially for lower value items). Does anyone know when I win a bid on something can the price be adjusted afterwards depending on what the seller paid?

Ask Ebay. There's a global shipping thing.

I sell on eBay and charge a flat rate to the UK for most items which isn't the same as the actual postage cost. I factor in packaging materials plus collection fees. I don't add on much but I was losing out previously. So you might find out what the actual cost is then add on a big and then contact seller

If you use address Pal with An Post, I usually pay around £4 as its going to a UK address, then An Post charge 6.50 Euro to deliver it. However you can be stuck with extra charges. I bought something for £18 recently on Ebay, but I was charged VAT on the full price of the item which was £35, rather than the price I paid for it, plus an admin charge, I think it was about 14 euro extra, plus the 6.50 from address pal. Not such a bargain after all that. Depending on the value of the item you can be hit with duty as well.

Same rigmarole with Depop which dd loves. Such a shame, takes all the fun out of it!
