Slim but have bad cellulite on legs

Hi All, looking for advice on how to get rid of cellulite on my legs. I’ve always thought they were ok but was shocked to notice the other day how bad they were. Especially on the front of my legs just above my knees.

I’ve barely ever been above 9 stone and have always either walked or exercised a reasonable amount. And I drink quite a bit of water everyday.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to improve this? I am truly shocked!!! 🤣

Hi, I'm in the same position as you, so watching this for ideas
I'm under 9stone and people tell me I'm slim, but I have a saggy bum and cellulite
😩

dudsville · 07/07/2021 22:36

Would things that massage the skin help? My legs look better when I use one of those scratchy scrubber things. Followed with lots of moisturiser to continue the massage?

Katefoster · 07/07/2021 22:38

I'm the same it's horrible. Before a holiday I up my squats and use firming cocoa butter and that seems to help. Having a tan also helps the appearance

MayaFey · 07/07/2021 22:43

Following for any ideas as I'm also slim with cellulite.

Branleuse · 07/07/2021 23:00

Drink 2 litres of water a day or preferably more. If you do that consistently you should notice a big improvement after a few weeks

Zerogravity · 07/07/2021 23:04

Following! I notice on the beach that my legs look about 20 years older than the rest of me. Running is meant to help but I haven't seen any improvement yet.

SingingInTheShithouse · 07/07/2021 23:20

I'd suggest maybe getting your B12 checked by your GP, or buying B12 injections, which are available at some beauty parlours, Harvey Nicks & the likes

I was really slim, but after having DD, though still slim, I had cellulite, that I'd never had before. Roll forward a few years & I ended being diagnosed with pernicious anaemia & the B12 injections I was given for that, fixed the cellulite . Turned out a gas & air over does in Labour, plus pregnancy & Labour itself had lowed/inactivated my bodies vitamin B12 stores.

So it may be worth looking into vitamin B12 as treatment for it. For me it was a welcome side effect of treatment for a medical condition, but maybe worth a go.

bellabride · 07/07/2021 23:24

Daily dry body brushing helped me.

Starbucksbasic123 · 08/07/2021 00:09

Dry brushing and water for me. I will try B12 also, thank you. When I stop the dry brushing and water it’s back

There was a programme on c4 a few years ago where they had 4 different women try different solutions over a number of weeks. I can’t remember what it was called but the only thing that made a big difference was dry body brushing. But it wasn’t 5 minutes a day, I think it might have been 20.

Maybe someone else can remember what it was called.

Deux · 08/07/2021 00:15

Actually it was on BBC One and was called The Truth about Cellulite.

nahnahna · 08/07/2021 06:19

It's about tone, you can try dry brushing but it was spinning class that really improved my legs, they are still in general better even though I haven't done it for ages.

MissSmiley · 08/07/2021 07:44

I second the spinning recommendation, my thighs have improved loads since I got my peloton, the muscles have sorted of smoothed the cellulite out

Zerogravity · 08/07/2021 08:33

Peloton is a raally expensive cure though! Would a normal bike work? How much cycling are we talking about?

MistySkiesAfterRain · 08/07/2021 08:39

Walking briskly 40 mins a day helped mine. Also running couch to 5k, eating low fat, squats, cycling, body brushing, low sugar, body brushing.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 08/07/2021 08:40

Cycling- go high resistance over speed/time. Build up though!

These are good (leg ones)

Is there any chance you have undiagnosed lipoedema (also spelled lipoedema)? I have this and it causes fat deposits on your legs which don’t respond to diet and exercise (the body no longer recognises the tissue as fat, so it can’t be burned off). It usually presents with disproportionate legs compared to upper half of body and uneven texture on legs. Google stage 1 lipoedema - I’m not overweight either, not everyone with the condition is.

Gensola · 08/07/2021 08:43

Sorry second spelling should be lipedema (the American way!)

timetoboard · 08/07/2021 08:44

Doing strength work outs is the only thing that keeps mine at bay, nothing too heavy I use 4kg dumbbells/6kg kettlebell/10kg barbell at the gym but there's plenty of work outs online. I can tell when I've had a few weeks off or focused on cardio/body weight for a weeks as my legs look awful again!

Zerogravity · 08/07/2021 09:20

@gensola Thanks for this. I have just read the description and it fits me to a tee. I am very slim on my top half and big on my legs with grainy fat deposits that I can feel under the skin. Have you found anything that helps?

Gensola · 08/07/2021 09:26

@Zerogravity I went to see Dr Gupta at Hunar Clinic in Gerards Cross, he also has a Harley Street practice - he confirmed my diagnosis and advised micro liposuction which is a new and minimally invasive procedure where they use needles rather than huge hoses, so there’s no scarring etc. It is quite expensive though so I have only had my saddle bag and outer thighs done so far, hoping to have my inner thighs down to and around my knees done later this year after my last round of IVF.
There are a couple of great Facebook support groups with women posting all sorts of tips and pre/post surgery pictures - Gupta Girls is a UK based one for people thinking about the micro lipo with him, plus there’s a stage 1 lipoedema support group which is also very helpful.
Some ladies have had success with keto diet and exercise but to be honest I think that’s mainly the larger ladies who have normal fat to lose as well.
I am delighted with the results of the micro lipo but it’s not for everyone, and it is expensive. It is worth doing some reading to see if you think the conservative methods might help you.

Tal45 · 08/07/2021 09:38

It's caused by poor circulation from what I've read so anything that improves circulation should help x

ISpeakJive · 08/07/2021 11:56

I have the same problem. In fact I posted a thread here asking anyone if they've had Cryolipolysis treatment! That's what I'm aiming to do next.

SamusIsAGirl · 08/07/2021 12:02

You might be skinny fat in that you have an OK BMI but low muscle tone. Some lifting and calisthetics might be helpful here alongside daily walking.

Currently self-isolating so its a skipping rope for me.

Yes, dry brushing definitely works but it’s hard to maintain the habit when you’re busy.

I should probably take it up again now while work is becalmed. Smile
