Help me transition from 20 something to 30 something!

Just had a massive wardrobe clear out. I had a baby just over a year ago. Body has changed a fair bit - overall I’ve lost weight (bit of PND and walking thousands of steps a day to get DS to nap as a newborn 🙈) but I’m far less toned then I used to be. 5ft 5 and a wobbly size 10-12. I just feel a lot more ‘30 something’ now then I did previously (I’m 33). That’s not a bad thing - I’ve hugely matured and prefer my life now Smile I was clinging on to ‘20 something’ in my wardrobe with far to much fast fashion. It all looks alien to me now!

I don’t want to buy Lots and Cheap anymore. It’s too bad for people and the planet. Can anyone recommend some good quality, preferably ethical brands that I can (slowly) restock my wardrobe with? I have to look smart for work but not formal business wear - smart causal I guess. I’m happy to buy good quality and associated price tag less frequently. I want to feel right for my age but timeless!

Thanks!

Following with interest… I’m in a similar situation and have no idea where to shop/what to buy any more.

Same boat here (albeit at 35...)

I'm working my way to a capsule (ish) wardrobe for now, mostly monochrome to reduce the daily stress of whatthehell-do-I-wear

lockdown cured me of my Primark binges, but post 20s, post baby, I needed a total reboot, so started with stitch fix to get me out of a rut.

I'm also starting again with undies and bras (I'm done with nursing bras for now and need resizing, my c section scar means tiny knickers are not an option) and spending time and money getting flattering cuts and recycling all the stuff that is past its best.

Hi both 👋🏼 Glad I’m not the only one to have felt this way.

@Toomanypickles yes, a capsule wardrobe is something I would now love. 20 or so amazing pieces that are just completely timeless and work for my job or my days off with DS and anything else. It was the online retailers for me - just so easy to buy and so cheap, especially during sales. To be fair I did wear it, but as I’ve just taken close to 80 items that would now make me look and feel ridiculous to the charity shop/fabric recycle I don’t want to go back to that.

Monochrome is a shout. I always think women in either all black or all white with a single pop of colour look amazzzzzing.

I FINALLY just upgraded all my nursing bras to nice ones from hot milk. They seem very good quality so far.

Oh stitch fix looks good. I’ve had targeted adverts for them but never been bold enough to go for it. That might be a good entry…

I’m exactly the same! Had my second baby late last year and recently turned 34. I asked for advice on some Scandinavian style insta accounts to follow and got some good tips. I’d like to look more grown up and put together. I’m about half a stone over my pre pregnancy weight though and still breastfeeding so going to wait til those things are resolved before splashing any cash!
