I'm 50 & have just noticed that my face is fuzzy! I thought I had dry skin on my cheeks but it's actually tiny hairs! I looked properly with glasses on & magnifying mirror & I'm horrified!!
I also saw longer fuzz on / just under my chin.
This is terrifying- what do I do (apart from invest in a balaclava ?)
Do i shave it?
Please help......

Watching. I was at the dentist the other day and horrified to see facial fuzz under their harsh light. My lighting at home is obviously lying flattering.

I've heard about shaving this fuzz but scared to do so in case it comes back looking thicker and I get into a five o'clock shadow situation!

CrystalMaisie · 04/07/2021 14:09

I use veet sensitive hair remover form the pound shop. Takes 4 minutes.

UnreasonablyPissedOff · 04/07/2021 14:31

@CrystalMaisie do you put it all over your face? I have horribly sensitive skin & have only very recently managed to get it under control. I'm a bit scared of the thoughts of using something like veet in case of a reaction
@ LeonardLikesThisPost I'm right there with you - also worried that shaving will make it all worse....

I have this problem. I used a dermaplaning tool but have found that for me, the regrowth is darker and a bit thicker, I know some people swear by it as a solution though. It also seemed to make me a bit spotty.

I have got a Lumea but I am psyching myself up to use it on my face, if it doesn't work, I'll do electrolysis.

Chewbecca · 04/07/2021 18:58

All mine was removed a couple of weeks ago as part of the dermablading stage of a ‘million dollar facial’.

My skin has never felt so smooth. Doesn’t seem to be returning yet.

Chewbecca · 04/07/2021 18:58

(I’m almost your age)

MaMelon · 04/07/2021 19:00

I dermablade my fuzz - you can buy them on Amazon, takes me about 10 minutes. Wish I’d known about this years ago! The hair doesn’t grow in thicker either, although I still have to pluck the black chin hairs.

Pinkmagic1 · 04/07/2021 19:02

Twinkle facial razors. They really are a game changer. I used to get my face threaded but these save a fortune and do the jobs just as well, if not better.

Peppallama · 04/07/2021 19:02

I've always had very thick white fuzz since a teenager. I've used Veet but it damages your skin, it's not a good solution. Now I just shave it. Demaplaner is just a razor for people who like to pretend they're not shaving it.

Fluffyandsilly · 04/07/2021 19:04

I have peach fuzz despite regularly having a go at my face with my Phillips Lumea. I think that works
on the darker lip hairs rather than the fuzz.
I recently started dermablading my face using cheap blades from ebay. My skin looks a lot better and the fur doesn’t seem to grow back thicker.

MouldyPotato · 04/07/2021 19:06

You can get this springy thing from boots. I think its by Tweezerman. It just sorting of pulls the hairs out!

Billandben444 · 04/07/2021 19:07

I'm late 60s and use derma blades off Amazon. Brilliant for fuzz but I tweeze thick hairs from chin and feet tache. Meanwhile, hair on my head is falling out in handfuls - ain't life strange?

Throughabushbackwards · 04/07/2021 19:09

I've recently bought a dermaplane called a Hollywood browser, £7.95 on Amazon. It's amazing - my face looks smoother all over and it seems to take a good while for the fuzz to grow back. Does my eyebrows at the same time.

Ok I am going through this myself and discovered via YouTube that spearmint tea twice a day reduces androgens which cause facial hair in women with PCOS. I don't have PCOS but I obviously have an issue with androgens which I'm guessing most women with facial hair do.
There are actually studies on pubmed about it.
So I bought some spearmint tea and started drinking it almost 3 weeks ago. Not lying but it's actually worked!
Mine was horrendous and although there is still some and I'm not completely hairless, the difference is amazing. I love the taste too so it's really no hardship.

MaMelon · 04/07/2021 20:46

The study published on Pubmed was inconclusive - the RCT study size was very small and too short in duration to be conclusive. Self reported levels of hirsutism showed a decrease but objective assessment didn’t show a decrease. Testosterone levels did show a decrease. Interesting!

Either way, I’m going to give it a go - why not? Smile

GreyJeans · 04/07/2021 21:30

@mylovelydd

Interesting, can you link to the one you've been drinking?
