Am about to commit to expensive dental work come tell me it will be all worth it!

Just that really. Have wanted to sort my teeth for a long time. I have missing lateral incisors which just never grew in as a child and 30 years of drinking black coffee hasn’t exactly done me any favours.

Finally in a position to afford the work but at nearly 4K it’s a big commitment and the thought of lots of orthodontist visits doesn’t fill me with glee. Come tell me how it will all be worth while please!!

I've spent literally thousands on my teeth in the last five years - first on getting a failed root canal re-done (to save it being pulled) and then on fixed braces to fix a very wonky smile. I don't regret a thing - I am immeasurably happier and more confident for having a half-decent set of teeth, and I take impeccable care of them now.

Go for it, you won't regret it!

Ps I couldn't afford it either. The repayments on both were painful but they're all paid now it was so worth it!

Yes my main concern is what to drink for the rest of my life having lived off coffee and Diet Coke for 30 years 😳 I’ve stopped drinking caffeinated coffee recently but do drink decaf as a substitute at the minute. I’d like to not drink it at all but I live hot drinks and herbal teas are grim 😩
It’s such a lot of money to spend though I’m going to have to look after them really well!

Definitely go for it!

I'm having my scans done on 16th and orthodontist appointment on 30th to get my braces. I'm so excited as I just want a nice smile - I have teeth overlapping and crowded and I they are yellow, I just hate my teeth at the moment and I'm so looking forward to getting it done.

It's going to be about £4.5k but I'm in a position now where I can afford it and I just want to be happy with my smile.

@sansucre if you don’t mind my asking, what did you have done? My teeth are fucked due to poor mental health, bulimia, and fear of dentists. I’m completely recovered from the dark times but my fucking teeth are dreadful.

A lot! My teeth were bad for similar reasons as yours. As a teen, I had a brace but no retainer (fixed retainers weren't a thing when I got braces), and my teeth had moved out of position, something which was impacted by two missing teeth, one on either side of my upper jaw.

Half the money was spent on complicated bridgework to replace the missing teeth. I wasn't able to get implants as the bone density wasn't good enough. The other half was spent on veneers for 6 upper teeth. They are nice and natural, no-one would ever suspect I had spent £10k on my teeth.

The irony of this is that nobody ever noticed my teeth were terrible. People commented I had suddenly become more confident and I told them why. Not the price though, that I only share with strangers online! Grin
