Moisturiser and possibly serum for dry sensitive skin with rosacea?

Looking for the perfect moisturiser for my dry, rosacea-prone face - any ideas? I currently have REN Evercalm for day and V-cense for night but my skin still feels dry especially in the day and gets red and hot easily. I've also tried Jurlique Calendula redness rescue, Clinique redness solutions, Caudalíe Resverastrol and Neal's Yard Frankincense. All of the ones I've mentioned have worked at some point for me but my skin seems to have become dryer. (Almost certainly related to menopause - have been in induced menopause for 10 years). Oh and I've tried the REN rescue night balm but that's too greasy most of the time and can cause breakouts.

I use a cream cleaner and flannel at night (skin feels dry after that too) followed by serum (votary super seed at the moment from an advent calendar, but I don't think I'll replace it) and facial oil (Aurelia - love it but £££). Then moisturiser later after that's soaked in.

I prefer more natural/clean ingredients but willing to try other options if they're good. I think petrochemical products and lanolin set off the rosacea. I'm also in France so French pharmacy brands would be fine, or anything I can buy online from Cult Beauty, Look Fantastic, Feel Unique, that kind of site (Boots for eg no longer delivers internationally). I'm looking for mid-range I suppose - happy to spend up to £40 for a moisturiser. I got the Venn All-in-one revitaliser serum/cream from my advent calendar too and it's great under daytime moisturiser but don't think I can justify buying it! Extra points for anything I can get a sample of, or buy a small size to try, to avoid further breaking the bank!

Sorry, long post for a relatively simple question Blush

Ultrasun is the only sunscreen I've found which is ok and I can't wear it every day.

Weleda Skin Food - is amazing. I use it as a facial moisturiser and it is so nourishing

AmberIsACertainty · 08/07/2021 23:22

have lots of cleansers on the go and flannel and hot water are the common factors! I'll try a wipe off one. And/or cooler water!

A big no to the flannel. Too abrasive. I use either L'Oréal Age Perfect Cleanser and Toner or Simple Miscellar Water Face Wash (which is extremely gentle) and splash/rub it off with water/hands.

Cream cleanser
Niacinamide
LRP cicaplast - fantastic stuff and have tried a lot.
Eucerin also good
Anything cooling, calming, nourishing. Stay away from exfoliating or brightening, they may be too harsh.
SPF

Have you tried adding a facial oil at night OP? My mum uses the REN evercalm range as well (very sensitive skin and also has rosacea but only mildly) and she uses the facial oil by Green People, which I have used too and it is lovely. Only £25 so not to expensive. Ticks your boxes for using more natural/clean ingredients too.

I could’ve written the post by @tiredteacher100! I had dry, tight, itchy skin and a dermatologist prescribed Soolantra and my skin was completely changed in under a month. No more sore face! And it turned out my skin was actually oily like it was pre-rosacea, the rosacea had masked that so I’d been using stuff for dry skin when my skin was oily but affected by the rosacea

JMAngel1 · 10/07/2021 06:21

Soolantra Soolantra Soolantra.
Please dom't buy anything else - go to your GP.

Wiredforsound · 10/07/2021 06:25

Soolantra. Seriously, don’t mess around with cosmetic brands. Just go and get Soolantra. I got mine from the Superdrug online pharmacy. You send them in photos and they send out the cream.

Porridgeislife · 10/07/2021 09:09

100% Soolantra, even if you have the red kind (Type 1) as I do. I thought my skin was parched beyond belief (tight, sore, dry, flaky) and NOTHING improved it until I started Soolantra. I was even recently complimented at how well moisturised my skin seemed by my threading lady.

I use a dab every night now and will as long as someone’s willing to prescribe it to me.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/07/2021 09:53

The side effects of Soolantera put me off even trying it.

Which side effects are you worried about?
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/07/2021 10:02

Redness and burning

tiredteacher100 · 10/07/2021 10:20

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor

Redness and burning
Surely you would just stop using it then? To be honest, I've had years of redness and my terrible skin has caused a lot of comments from people about me looking hot etc. The small risk of temporary side effects are nothing compared to the chance of clear, normal looking skin and in my case I'm over the moon with Soolantra. And to be fair those side effects are pretty much whst many people with rosacea have all the time
FindingMeno · 10/07/2021 10:29

I avoid water and instead clean my face by wiping it with Simple toner which has really helped, is so cheap, and is one of the very few that doesn't irritate me.
All the Simple products I have found to be good and non irritating.
Prescription cream ( rozex) helps.
Cerave is good.
And I use hyaluronic acid serum to help dryness.

Ohbeeryme · 10/07/2021 12:59

I’ve only heard good things about Soolantra. Never heard of anyone having side effects. Lots of fun wools have recommended it. If your rosacea is bad you should defo try it

Ohbeeryme · 10/07/2021 13:00

Fun wools- people. Confused

FTM23 · 10/07/2021 16:48

I currently use Dr Jart+ Ceramidin cream, it’s the best moisturiser I’ve ever used and the only one that doesn’t break me out! As soon as you put it on it’s feels sooo moisturising and not greasy unlike other ones I’ve tried

annacondom · 10/07/2021 16:55

I haven't read all the thread, but my rosacea disappeared when I gave up wheat. Maybe you are slightly gluten intolerant? Ah, just seen the pp! Cross post.
