Do bow free bras exist?

I'm took tween dd shopping for bras and every bloody one had a bow on it, either in the middle or at the top of each cup, which she hated. I have unpicked the offenders from the ones she finally agreed would be otherwise OK. But looking at all my bras, they are similarly festooned. Are our boobs not enough reminder that we are female? Do we need bows to reinforce it?

Sports bras don’t

HelloDulling · 03/07/2021 20:23

None of mine have bows, I prefer a very plain style. Just plain, no lace, ribbon etc, in satin or cotton.

LucysSkyDiamonds · 03/07/2021 20:25

HelloDulling where do you find them, please?

Helenluvsrob, yes, you're right. Unfortunately I've never found a sports bra comfortable enough to wear for longer than necessary but dd might find something that suits her better. Thanks.

I'm sure I watched a programme once which explained why bras have them. There is a reason! I just can't remember what it is Confused

FreshFaceTime · 03/07/2021 20:27

Just had a think about this and in my experience the bigger my tits have got, the less likely the bra is to have a bow... something to strive for Grin

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 03/07/2021 20:28

hah...dh just caught me looking down my top, I was sure this one did not have a bow on, but it does.

Pikachusbutt · 03/07/2021 20:29

Literally every shop that sells bras sells the plain t-shirt or multi-way bras that don't have bows. Most places have them in a pack of three white, black and nude.

I bought a pack from Asda before for £15.

purplesequins · 03/07/2021 20:30

it used to be a stitch where the whalebone/wires where sown in.
no need for those in modern bras.

for bow free look at triumph.

I think it might be that bras are really quite complicated to construct, and little bows often cover up where lots of seams meet, so it's less obvious if there are wonky bits.

It's possible that this was the reason originally and the bows have just remained out of habit as sewing/construction methods change.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 03/07/2021 20:31

Molke, shock absorber and the sport range from m and s seem fine.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 03/07/2021 20:32

Yes, second t-shirt bras for nice streamlined frilly-bow-nonsense-free bras.

LucysSkyDiamonds · 03/07/2021 20:32

Peppallama, if you ever remember I'd blove to.hear!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow, I've just had a look and found three! Three! Why??

FreshFaceTime I'm not sure my back could take any increase in the quest for bowlessness. Confused

Mmm, no bow but a tiny gold tag on mine

LucysSkyDiamonds · 03/07/2021 20:35

Cross posted with lots of you. Thanks for the shopping recommendations I'll get looking. I've never found a tshirt bra that fit me so maybe that's where I'm missing out.

The historical seaming cover up is an interesting idea.

mycatscausehell · 03/07/2021 20:35

i think the basic tshirt boux avenue ones are bow free

FreshFaceTime · 03/07/2021 20:41

@LucysSkyDiamonds I missed the bit where you said yours had bows too. Was thinking maybe tween bras were the issue. I'm out of the loop really as I've spent so long in breastfeeding bras the last few years and it would appear as though they skipped the bows when they made my udder slings.

MargosKaftan · 03/07/2021 20:43

Yes, anything labeled t shirt bra is completely plain. M&S and sainsburys both do them.
