Static in silk dresses - what remedies please

pagwatch · 23/11/2007 11:14

I have two pretty silk day dresses which i can't wear because of the amount of static making them cling very unbecomingly to my less than slender thighs.
I have a slip from Marks which helps a bit but it seems to be my tights causing the prob.
Is there anything i can do that works - different tights, maybe a fabric softner - anything?
So grumpy that I just can't wear them and there is so little in my wardrobe that fits me just at the moment
Thanks

anyone?
Or do I just stick them on ebay?

wear them with wellies

isn't there some old wives' tale - spray hairspray on your tights or put them in the freezer or some such?

if opaque tights maybe try cotton-rich ones, or even wool
or bare legs

hairspray does work on tights - weird but true ...

HonoriaGlossop · 23/11/2007 15:18

Yup, hairspray - it does work.

I will try the hairspray thing and try cotton tights. Legs are too grim to be bare in winter. Thanks all !
Presume the wellies should be thigh length ..... well, it is DH's birthday on Mon

Hairspray!!!!

It will stop any clinging fabrice from riding up!

Really does work. Have used it loads my self.

But Make sure you spray you and not the dress. Make sure you stand still for a few mins and let it dry.

Do not do this wil your best french silk stockings you will ruin them!
