If you have rosacea can you advise good products?

Not me but for a friend, she has kind of red lumps on her T zone, chin and sometimes forehead. She think it’s rosacea and wants some products but doesn’t have time to research so I said I would ask the MN collective! Her skin otherwise is normal/dry. Any advice or product recommendations welcome.

I have Finacea on prescription and it clears rosacea breakouts quickly.

Tetracycline.

Had to give it up after liver tests came back as less than optimal.

Have heard of topical ivermectin (Soolantra), but can't be arsed.

@Belliphat

Hmmm dermatica triggered my Roseacea and weren’t interested in my updates. Invermectin from the gp is cheaper
Oh interesting, that’s not good, I guess because I’ve not had any problems I haven’t experienced that side.

I just found this video yesterday on rosacea which was really interesting, talks about the different types, causes, what can help and what irritates, as well as product recommendations.

The 2 guys talking are easy on the eye too which helps.

Thank you. It seems like Soolantra is a good bet. Can I also ask what makeup you recommend?

For foundation, I use the anti-redness FrezyDerm one. It has niacimimide in and seems to help smooth out the skin and doesn't make things worse - about medium level coverage (with the Soolantra it is great for me, although there are no 'different colour' options that I can see, which is kind of annoying). I've also had success with gentle, lightweight products from Lumene.

Def recommend the GP - antibiotics is the only thing that makes any difference to me. For makeup and skin care I use cetaphil as a cleanser and diprobase/doublebase as a moisturiser- basically very simple none perfumed almost medical products that won't aggregate my skin. makeup wise I feel I always need to use a fairly heavy duty foundation (even when skin is good) so wear Estée Lauder doublewear foundation

Ohbeeryme · 10/07/2021 04:35

Soolantra. And you can check online good foundations for not aggravating it. Luckily Doublewear is on the list which was what I used anyway. Also on the Soolantra leaflet it says (if I remember right, I did read it somewhere) that it’s ivermectin suspended in cetaphil. So that’s got to be a good starting point in looking for moisturisers or whatever.

Double wear is amazing and doesn't irritate me at all.

I'm having reasonable results with rozex.
I was using CeraVe moisturiser but although it was good with my rosacea it felt greasy on my skin.
I use hyaluronic acid serum and Simple skincare products which are so gentle.
I really don't often wear make up. It's tricky because as much as it would help evening out skintone aesthetically I feel it can't be good for trying to control the rosacea.
I feel with careful treatment mine has got to the stage of looking quite acceptable so I tend to wear eye make up and leave my skin bare.
I also find Olay products don't cause me a problem and they do a slightly tanning moisturiser which I've just bought to try as an alternative to foundation/ concealer/ bb.
I hear some people find rosalique is good to cover redness.
