Please advise me about my skin

I am 45 with very sensitive , sometimes dry skin . Up until the last 6 months I have looked really young for my age but without a word of a lie wrinkles and lines have appeared almost over night ! I have looked in the mirror and felt honestly shocked at the sudden difference !
I have been suffering from anxiety , been ill with Covid and I think I may be perimenopausal which I guess could have contributed.
I am annoyed at myself for being bothered but honestly it’s making me really sad and I just don’t feel like me.

My usual routine is just a gentle cleanser , kiehls moisturiser and always use sunscreen. Don’t smoke or drink , eat ok .

What can I do to slow this down ? At this rate I’ll be looking 80 by Christmas!

Please advise me about my skin

Your skin looks lovely, even and clear! However, fine lines happen to the best of us.

Option 1: invest in a hyaluronic acid serum to hydrate your skin. See link below. Wear under moisturiser. A couple of drops of facial oil e.g rosehip also works wonders for dry dehydrated skin. Use a thin layer of Vaseline over your moisturiser at night. It will NOT give you spots. It seals in all the moisture so you wake up with plumper skin.

Option 2: Tretinoin. Prescription topical cream that will boost collagen. Will help with fine lines and prevention. You can use an online service for this (skin and me, dermatica). They start you off on a v low dose with other antioxidants to get you used to it. Tret is by far the best ingredient for wrinkles.

Option 3: Botox and/or fillers. Last resort. I have no experience in these so will shut up here!

The options are not mutually exclusive! I do option 1 and 2.

Btw, well done on the sunscreen. Best wrinkle prevention of all.

Hyaluronic acid - this product is excellent. You can get shipping from Japan on eBay. I get the bag refills and decant into bottles. Lasts ages and I smother this stuff on.

Some people may find this controversial but what matters the most is the way you feel about yourself. I’ve recently discovered some life changing treatments procedures and tips for slowing down the aging process. No plastic surgery or anything too invasive but 1) hormone replacement therapy is so beneficial for menopause and just your overall health 2) platenet rich plasma therapy is somewhat pricey but is worth every penny for restoring anything that is becoming damaged on your body. Pains, skin problems , hair loss. Another miracle. Lastly, taking care of you diet and avoiding any foods you may be intolerant to. They have tests you can order and mail in to get that information.

Nip and fab no needle serum is awesome

@lizgal I really feel like I could be perimenopausal. I have the symptoms but my periods are regular and the doctor has checked my hormones twice and various other things and nothing shows up. I was hoping it would and HRT was the answer !

Hmm, maybe it’s something in your diet causing these symptoms. Taking a food intolerance test could help. Most people are sensitive to certain foods and never even realize because the effects are subtle over the years but eventually will cause chronic fatigue, skin issues, stomach problems. I recently discovered I was highly intolerant to high fructose corn syrup and would drink soda daily ! Once I eliminated anything containing that, it didn’t take long for me to feel overwhelmingly better. It’s crazy what some foods can do to our bodies over the years without us realizing. :)

I think I’ll look into that , maybe get a test . I do have stomach issues, have had to take ppi tablets daily for the last 10 years.
