Does anyone else find they can't bear foundation anymore??

Don't get me wrong, I don't have amazing skin or anything but I honestly can't bear the look or feel of foundations or even some tinted moisturisers anymore.

I used to wear double wear and powder on top and couldn't leave the house without it. I don't know if I've just gotten used to my bare skin in lockdown or my skin has changed as I'm getting older (mid 30s) but I feel like foundation is soooo noticeable on me now.

Anyone else have the same and possibly found some new holy grail product?

I am blessed with decent skin and I have always been good about moisturising it.

These days (I'm early 50s) I can't bear foundation and have just chucked a load out. The most I will wear is concealer if necessary for a hormonal spot and maybe some tinted moisturiser. Perhaps some powder if I am really shiny.

I cannot believe how I used to cake on the foundation and think it was necessary. I kept that up into my mid forties.

Try Trinny London Products, I’ve converted from Yves saint laurent foundation to Trinny BFF skin corrector with BFF de-stress foundation on top.
Feels so much lighter and feels like your skin can breathe.

I just wear a bit of face powder to take down shine. It's enough and doesn't look heavy at all. Foundation can look too flat and sit in my wrinkles. Compact powder over bare skin doesn't seem to do that at all.

Same
I stopped getting spots in lockdown #1 and decided not to go back to it. I've now given up foundation unless I was going out somewhere fancy (which I haven't, obviously!)

I don’t actually own any foundation and think it looks OTT when worn in the daytime. I think make-up fashions have moved on from those days. For evening I now use a tinted moisturiser by Bobby Brown with Glossier stretch concealer and daytime the concealer with Glossiers perfecting skin tint if I’m leaving the house. It’s a bit lighter than the tinted moisturiser but just enough coverage to even things out slightly.

Tinted moisturiser or Boots Instant Illusions Primer with a bit of Garnier BB cream mixed in. Can't imagine ever wearing foundation again now. I don't whether it's not being in a stuffy office or more fresh air but my skin has loved lockdown.

I don’t think you’re alone!

I think make up habits and preferences have really changed. Partly due to the pandemic and so many people working from home and having less reason to dress up socially too. But I think there was a move towards more low-key make up for a while pre-pandemic (from what I’ve seen - it might vary in different areas/different crowds etc). Glossier is a brand that does this look - like a PP I use their perfecting skin tint if I’m going out - for daytime/causal I don’t wear anything on my skin.

I’d feel really strange/too OTT wearing a full face of make up now, it would just look too much to my eye as I’m so not used to it.

I have always felt like this! I feel ( and look) ridiculous with foundation on, however light!

I’ve really oily skin so tinted moisturiser tends to split on my face. I agree it can feel heavy and greasy. I’ve never worn traditional foundation. I have however rediscovered Bare Minerals mineral foundation which I used years back and not sure why I stopped. It’s incredibly subtle and not greasy at all, being powder based.

Yes me !! I haven’t worn it for a year or so now , my skin is actually pretty good at the moment as I’ve been making skincare a priority the last year but even so I find foundation sits in every imperfection and looks awful

I’d read how matte foundation can look this way as you get older so tried a tinted moisturiser and also a sheer finish foundation instead - both with the same effect Angry

I don’t really have that many lines / wrinkles but they seem to appear when I put it on , it’s incredibly annoying !
