Tell me not to change my aesthetician!

I'm very happy with the Dr I go to see for my botox and fillers, but I've noticed a new salon just down the road from my house, and one at my gym, that offer the services much cheaper - as in I'd save over £500 each time I have my face done.

I know you get what you pay for, and these salons don't have qualified medical people doing the injections - they are very much in the "love island" customer business, whereas mine is in the actual aesthetician business.

Tell me I'm being stupid to be tempted. I don't want to look overdone but if I can get it £500 cheaper then its a big saving!

Up to you isnt it. Id probably give the new one a go

Naggety · 29/06/2021 16:02

What? If you would save 500 - what does it actually cost?! Of course, you could just not do it and save the whole amount.

Halloweiner · 29/06/2021 16:08

Trust me, you are being "stupid" to consider it. If you can afford to get enough work done that you'd be saving £500 by changing to the cheaper option, you can afford to pay a medical professional to do it properly.

Based on the number of botched programmes I have watched, I think you really should stick with the person whose results you have been happy with so far. £500 is a big saving, but if they ruin your face it will never have been worth it.

thenightsky · 29/06/2021 16:13

Wait a year, until the new salon has had a number of customers through, then read their reviews and decide.

isthismylifenow · 29/06/2021 16:14

Do you mind if I ask what it costs you now doing it at the Dr.

I'm not in UK so just wondering if it's cheaper or more expensive there.

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 29/06/2021 16:48

isthismylifenow I usually get two areas of Botox, cheeks and nasolabial lines filled and it costs me £1200. If it’s only Botox then it’s £350.

I don’t get a lot of filler put in 1.5 for all areas so just a subtle uplift. I’m thinking of getting something done with my jowls and I’m talking myself out of a tiny bit in my lips.

Thanks all for making me see sense, I’d rather pay for my guy than risk someone who is not qualified properly.

I get regular Botox (although it's £250 for 3 areas so cheaper than yours). I go to a doctor who is also a plastic surgeon with over 25 years experience. Honestly, I wouldn't consider going to anyone less qualified.

ferretface · 29/06/2021 17:25

God no, don't do it, i'd never trust anyone other than a doctor with my face. Especially for anything involving facial fillers where their ability to recognise vascular complications, give an injection of hyuralonidase and get you to A&E is essential to maintaining your eyesight!! OMG. My doctor is an experienced surgeon, she does facial fillers with a cannula or fine needle and she is very very aware of this risk. It doesn't even need a mistake by the practitioner to happen but if it happens you want the doctor there to spot it and dissolve the filler ASAP. It's not like Botox where probably the worst case (other than allergic reaction) is looking lopsided for a few months.

Plus the more general cosmetic risks about looking overdone etc!

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 29/06/2021 17:30

ferretface I completely agree, I’d be too afraid something happened - and looking like a reject from TOWIE might tip me over the edge!

I’m staying with my lovely Dr, they’ve just sent an email incidentally about new treatments they’re offering so will discuss that when I see him.

Don’t do it. If you’re spending what you do you can obviously afford it!

Miseryisabutterfly · 29/06/2021 22:37

Gosh @ferretface it should be illegal for those without medical expertise to do it!

RacheyCat · 29/06/2021 23:38

Always pay for best you can, in my opinion. I'm in an Asian country where I could get Botox quite cheaply, but I'm still going to a nice clinic with proper doctors and paying £200. Also, isn't part of the pleasure the nice surroundings, the gentle facial before they start, and the solicitous service?
