I use Q&A hyaluronic acid, which I really like using. Although I am thinking of just getting some aloe vera gel or something for when I use my bear just before showering.

I use ultrasound gel from amazon. Two massive bottles for £5. If you read the reviews lots of people are using it for their micro current devices amzn.to/3dbFhpz

Aloe Vera gel

Journeynotdestination · 25/06/2021 08:35

Oooh glad I found this thread, have bought the ultrasound gel for my Bear.

MoriaRoseForever · 25/06/2021 09:08

Thanks everyone .

I found this article that says the bear pushed the gel into the skin and some gels have ‘nasties’ in them .

She does recommend one there that doesn’t .

Foreo also now seem to say don’t use aloe gel, but then they want people to buy theirs .

No, Foreo says to use anything that's water based with no oil but not aloe gel. Aloe is apparently not as conductive so you won't see as good a result.

I use CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, very pleased with that after trying a few others (conductivity gel and an HA gel, the first required washing off and I didn't enjoy washing my face twice, the latter made me breakout).

That looks good, although I feel a bit odd with the snail slime .

you get over it, it's ethically harvested (so they claim anyhow). Product itself is very soothing and it's been popular among nuface users for a while.

I saw Boots is saying it’s vegan !

Yeah, no slugs are killed, the brand is vegan and cruelty free by the strictest standards (they don't sell in China). I think there is some debate as to whether the harvesting of the mucin is pain free but apparently the modern forms of harvesting is.

TawnyPippit · 25/06/2021 12:46

I’m using the Vichy Mineral 89 Hyaluronic gel. It’s admittedly pricy but cheaper than the Foreo own brand one, plus every time I’ve bought it (Boots) there seems to be some sort of deal (I just got 3 for 2) and it seems to last quite a while. It feels really nice and gives (me) a good result.

Interesting that Foreo does not recommend Aloe gel - is this new? The early you tubes etc majored on aloe.

But vegan means no animal products , but there is . That doesn’t make sense . Cruelty free is about the process . Vegan is about the contents being animal free.

I use SBC HA gel for my Nuface.

botemp · 25/06/2021 13:16

Vegan isn't exactly a protected definition, there's vegans who won't eat certain vegetables because insects are exploitated growing them (can't remember the specifics), there's vegans who eat eggs from battery hen rescues, honey is another that's open to interpretation etc. anyhow, point I'm trying to make it's really not a set definition so under some definition it is vegan because the animal isn't harmed and it's just a byproduct they have no need of but it's up to you whether it meets your criteria of vegan or not. When it comes to cosmetic marketing they'll probably go by the one that suits them best, ie. the least strictest interpretation. Is it shady, probably, but the entire industry is.

TawnyPippit · 25/06/2021 13:29

That SBC gel looks good and cheaper than the Vichy 89 - thanks for the rec. (I have 2 & 3/4s bottles of Vichy to get through, so have bookmarked it!)
