wasnt sure where to post this question?!
Has anyone had those pieces of jewellery made incorporating your babies fingerprints? I cant decide whether they are nice or naff? they seem quite expensive (start at £45)....has anyone had them done? do they look good? is it worth it?

i've seen those advertised, I personally thought it was a really nice idea, but bit too expensive for me to justify. Sorry no help, but i like them

lulumama · 22/11/2007 09:00

i saw those in the NCT mag yesterday, thought they were lovely, don;t think it is that expensive for a keepsake... IMO

DontCallMeBaby · 22/11/2007 09:09

I have one, so obviously think they're nice ... I don't wear it at the moment cos the link attaching the charm to the bracelet came undone and I can't get it securely fixed enough to be happy I won't lose it. It was made by Small Print who start at £20 for just a charm, so a little cheaper, they had a stand in a big Mothercare when I got mine done. While it's a nice thing to have, the fingerprint detail isn't really there on mine, there's a small fingerprint shape, but not the ridge detail. I don't know whether that was down to the quality of the process, or the woman who did it, or just DD wiggling a bit.

I think it is a wonderful idea, not to twee at all, they would look just like a charm.

also not that pricey for handmade

lulumama · 22/11/2007 09:14

these are the ones i saw

ninedragons · 22/11/2007 09:19

It sounds lovely, actually. I don't suppose you could link to it?

It doesn't sound like much for something you'll have forever. Mind you, I am someone who decided bugger maternity clothes, I'll just schlepp around in yoga pants and giant t-shirts and spend my clothing budget on an opal necklace and earrings. There was no contest for me when it came down to something I'll wear for three months and something I'll wear for the rest of my life.

Husband is under instruction to inform me tactfully if I start to look like Vicky Pollard with the big tummy/jersey knit/bling combination, though.

ninedragons · 22/11/2007 09:19

sorry, cross-posted there.

DontCallMeBaby · 22/11/2007 09:26

Ooh, lulumama, those are lovely, nicer than mine ... must resist.

ninedragons · 22/11/2007 09:37

DCMB, I've seen charms attached to bracelets with miniature split rings (like tiny keychain rings). Most beading shops should have them - they're as secure as you can get without getting the charm actually soldered onto the bracelet.

DontCallMeBaby · 22/11/2007 16:40

Ah, thank you - will keep an eye out.

woodenchair · 22/11/2007 17:09

I saw this company "here www.smallp.co.uk/index.php recommended on another link a while ago.

not as nice a lulumama's (which are really nice!) but they might be cheaper

MrsBadger · 22/11/2007 18:21

not outrageously priced, and muxh better cost-per-wear than (eg) framed hand- and footprints or gilded baby shoes, so if you fancy some baby keepsakery it's a good one to go for imo.
