Do modesty panels work?

I’ll be going to a wedding when I’m 6 months pregnant and have been struggling to find a suitable dress. I’ve found one that is lovely except it is a wrap dress also has a deep v neck.

It could possibly work with a modesty panel to cover my cleavage. The thing is, I don’t want to keep the dress and get a modesty panel, only to feel uncomfortable / look awful on the day if it doesn’t work. Has anyone tried one? I’ve found some on Etsy but will probably end up ordering a few to try as I don’t want anything that looks too cheap. Help please!

I’ve used a cheap crop top/ bandeau previously for this sort of thing, if you think that might work?

I'd wear a camisole underneath the dress- much more comfortable and definitely works

I usually just wear a plain cami top underneath. Uniqlo do good ones, or HM do good maternity vests with a built in shelf bra. You don’t need a special “modesty panel”, just a layer underneath so you aren’t flashing people (I’m short and busty, so v-necks come down a lot lower on my body and show a lot more cleavage than intended).

My sister made one for me with with Velcro tabs to wear with a wrap dress.
Just a rectangle of material with Velcro on the four corners and corresponding Velcro on the inside of the dress.
Worked very well and sounds ideal for you as could remove when your no longer pregnant and wear the dress again.
We went for a contrasting colour and looked like that was the design of the dress.

Here you go

I am very small framed with huge boobs so need some coverup if I wear anything lower than a polo neck. I find Primark £3 cami/vest tops are best. They are long enough that they don't ride up and rub, they come in a huge range of colours and they wash brilliantly.

Depending upon how much too low it is a small safety pin might do the job.

I've tried them. Just cheap ones from eBay, absolutely ages ago. They didn't work for me at all. But maybe some would.

I like the bandeau top idea! I'd never thought of that. Genius. I usually wear a vest underneath but can imagine a bandeau looking a bit neater / smarter maybe.

I had the little triangle ones for work. They had buttons, so they attached on each bra strap and they never rode up or anything. They looked ok, had a bit of lace trim. They were only cheap from ebay.

You can wear a bralet over a regular bra. It doesn't have to be remotely supportive then so you can get a cheap one!

But many of them have pretty detail and give that Modesty panel look. Without any clips or all worrying about extra layers over your bump.

Good idea. I have a crop top style bra from Primark, but it's not flattering at all and a real bra gives me more shape. A vest top underneath is not a great solution as it will move around and is another layer to wear when it's hot.

What colour do you need? I wear these under wrap dresses, over my bra www.asos.com/topshop/topshop-co-ord-skinny-rib-bandeau-in-black/prd/22866831?colourwayid=60432470&SearchQuery=topshop+beandeau

Thanks for all your suggestions. I’ve got some old bralettes I could try.

@M0rT I like the idea of finding a lovely fabric and making one, thank you. I think that’s probably what I’ll end up doing if the bralette doesn’t work.
