Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak - anyone used it...?

I have been reading too much Caroline Hirons and hence have been lusting after this for a while, but also realising that £35+ for some bath stuff is a bit nuts. I do have aching muscles from time to time, well a lot, but there may also be other products that work as well but just don't have the hype...? (Or am I better just spending the money on a massage...?!)

However, it's now on offer via Amazon so seems possibly less bonkers when it's cheaper.

Has anyone used it and what do you think...? Worth it or not...?

I was conned - er, I mean persuaded - into buying it on a cruise ship years ago. I love Elemis products but this one did absolutely nothing. I get aching muscles a lot from exercise and the only thing that actually does any good is massage and/or stretching.

It's literally just a menthol type bath product - you would get the same (and actually better due to the magnesium) effect from those post work out Epsom bath salts you can buy in home bargains etc.

FeatheredHope · 21/06/2021 18:29

If you want to help aching muscles, get some Epsom salts to add to your bath. Cheap as chips!

JemimaPyjamas · 21/06/2021 19:11

This is a HUGE help!
So, I genuinely would be better sticking with salts, and the smell of this one really isn’t all that great…?

@JemimaPyjamas Epsom and magnesium salts. Add some Radox and a bath block (I just got the Lacura ones from Aldi - so so good!) and you’re good to go.

Do not waste your money!

Seesawmummadaw · 21/06/2021 19:15

Definitely stick to Epsom bath salts. I add dried lavender and rose petals

PawsQueen · 23/06/2021 00:02

The only things that help for me (back problem, take meds that cause bone pain) are

Epsom salts/magnesium flakes/whichever is on offer (I buy in bulk off Amazon in giant tubs!) I throw them in with every bath
Mio yoga bath soak if you want a treat
Radox muscle soak (they do salts too which are good) cheap but I don't think you can get better

Clearly, I’m an outlier, but I absolutely love Elemis Aching Muscle Soak. I find the lovely smell lingers upstairs into the following day after a bath. It’s also moisturising. It is ridiculously expensive, so I only buy it with a decent discount.

Thanks everyone!

I was gifted some of this by a well meaning friend but I found the smell hideous. It reminded me of TCP and did the sum total of Jack Shit in terms of relieving aching muscles.

I googled and found:

Ingredients of Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak : Aqua/Water/Eau, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Maris Sal/Sea Salt/Sel Marin, Cocamide DEA, Methyl Salicylate, Laureth-2, Lavandula Hybrida (Lavandin) Oil, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Bud Oil, Juniperus Communis (Juniper) Fruit Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Oil, Betula Lenta (Birch) Bark Oil, Eugenol, Linalool, Limonene, Geraniol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Citric Acid, Blue 1 (CI 42090).

It's one thing if you particularly like the smell of this product, and want to buy it based on that. But if you want a high proportion of the ingredient which is likely to make a difference, then use Epsom salts or magnesium flakes. I get mine from B&M. You can use your favourite essential oils or bubble bath alongside.

I've used the Elemis Super Soak before and do really like it but it is a bit pricey for what it is! I find Epsom salts have the same benefits. I've used a few but I really love this one from WholyMe it smells amazing and it's infused with other ingredients like arnica oil - wholyme.com/products/relief-salts/

TheLivingAnt · 13/08/2021 16:30

I’ve used it before. Complete waste of money. Does nothing for aching muscles whatsoever
