Is Revlon one step dryer and volumisor any good?

I have seen it is on prime day... I have always looked at the revlon big hair... but never bought one as I have wasted money on hair appliances before. Is this the same thing as the big hair? Is it any good? Any other recommendations if not?

Yes. I'm selling my Airwrap on eBay and reverting to this.

Confusedandshaken · 21/06/2021 12:35

Sorry. Pressed post too soon. I used to use the Big Hair and loved it but found it could over stretch my hair leading to breakages but I don't have the same problem with this.

Loserinlove · 21/06/2021 13:03

Thanks @Confusedandshaken I loved the look of the air wrap but couldn’t justify the cost if I didn’t get on with it! I have suffered this already with all the different curlers I have bought as I can’t find one that works and has a nice curl!

Yes there really good I got mine from Here really great price wouldn't go back now.

HullIsWorseThanHell · 21/06/2021 16:05

Are they only good for the curled under look? I like straight ans smooth hair but with straight ends or a wave

PaniniHead · 21/06/2021 16:12

I love mine. So easy to use

DGFB · 21/06/2021 17:33

Yes I like mine too.

AmandaMiranda · 21/06/2021 17:57

I found it really good at giving volume but it fried my hair. Since swapping to the Dyson my hair is in much better condition but limper.

Vanessashanessajenkins2 · 21/06/2021 18:01

I have really long hair. I find it a bit hard to use but I am a new user. My hair feels amazing after use. It didn't get greasy as quickly either and has a bit more of a bounce.
I'm getting a well overdue haircut soon so looking forward to using it on shorter hair where I can style it properly.

Loserinlove · 21/06/2021 20:35

@Vanessashanessajenkins2 how long? Mine is halfway down my back... but also have shorter layers

Vanessashanessajenkins2 · 22/06/2021 06:20

Literally to my bum. My ethnicity is South Asian so I've always had long thick black hair. At the moment it is all one length and pretty flat. The revlon one step dryer helped it get a bit of bounce but I think once I get some shorter layers and a good trim, it will help massively and be easier to style.

Loserinlove · 22/06/2021 09:14

Thanks for replying. So will the bounce it gives last the day? It won’t just dry nice snd then fall flat after a couple of hours? Do you all dry the whole head of hair with it?

I bought this on Prime day as had been keeping an eye on it

Used it last night and it is so easy

It left my hair shiny and got rid of the frizz. Brilliant buy for 33 quid

It looks like a massive thing at first but having one hand free to really add some oomph to the warm air by how you position it is great. And doing the back is much easier than trying to direct a conventional hairdryer and not get a separate brush tangled. It honestly cut the time in half

The hot setting is a bit brutal but the cool setting is plenty warm enough

Loserinlove · 24/06/2021 09:29

Thanks @AnyFucker I bought it! Awaiting for it to arrive today!

Exciting Smile

Yellow85 · 24/06/2021 09:34

Mixed. Maybe just me, but I found it really heavy. I’d actually have sore forearms, but I have long thick hair. It also used to catch and snap hairs. Worked great when hair was bobbed though - the finish was great! I use my airwrap now, but don’t get the same volume - prob because it’s cooler air, so tend to just wave it now.

AnyFucker · 24/06/2021 11:54

My hair is shoulder length.

I have been suffering from post COVID/stress hair loss and I treat my hair very gently so was in two minds about using the Revlon. So far, so good though. There were plenty of pulled entire hairs in the brush when I finished but no more than has been happening recently when I blow dry the usual way. No particular breakage though, I found my hair didn’t get caught up in the bristles at all.

AnyFucker · 24/06/2021 11:56

It’s about the same weight as my hairdryer which is quite a heavy cumbersome one but lovely to have the free hand to control things

Loserinlove · 26/06/2021 09:58

Ok so I don’t find it heavy, but hard to dry my roots. Yes there is a bit of body but I still need to use my straighteners afterwards which defeats the point as they flatten the oomph that this thing gives... good concept but just not for my hair booooo

Aww Sad

I’ll tell you what is unbeatable. A salon blow dry. I had mine coloured yesterday and then blow dried by the lovely hairstylist.

I understand why some folk have one every week. I would if I had the time.

bendmeoverbackwards · 26/06/2021 10:03

Is it still on offer?

AnyFucker · 26/06/2021 10:05

I got mine on Amazon Prime day which is finished now. I think the full price is still reasonable though (now I have it)

ladymuck111 · 26/06/2021 10:07

I've had mine a while, I've only used it a few times at first I thought it was great but now I'm not so keen on it. I might stick it on Marketplace actually and sell it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/06/2021 10:07

Are you drying your hair first OP with a hairdryer? Needs to be almost completely dry then finish off with the One Step.

I asked my hairdresser to check for damage as I use mine all the time and she said my hair is fine...unlike the Babyliss Big Hair which broke my hair.

Drbrowns · 26/06/2021 10:09

I’ve been thinking about one since Christmas. Have watched loads of YouTube reviews and they’re all brilliant. Most if of them say to let your hair dry about 70% before you use it to get the most out if it.
