Non wired bras: how to check fit

I bought some non wired bras as have to go in for surgery (cheap 3 pack from Matalan size 36 dd)

How do I check the fit? I'm usually ok with bras (used BOB) but such a pain with no fitting rooms! These feel fine for what I need just the centre gore does not lie against my chest like I would expect in a wired bra. (36 dd isn't my usual size just closest one).

Also can I wear a bra In Surgery!? Random question!

Fit will depend on the bra style. Some non underwired are designed more like a crop top, some you should expect to separate and the bra meet your chest in the middle.

Your surgery question will depend on where they're operating. The higher they go the less likely it's possible. Also if there's any metal in the bra that can be a problem. Ask the nurse when you arrive, they'll know for sure.

No you'll be naked in surgery for sterility reasons
If you're only wearing the bras for post-op and they're comfy/look alright, does it matter if they don't fit perfectly?
You won't be doing aerobics in them
Good luck with recovery Thanks

Thank you @Orf1abc. That make sense.

@Veterinari
Yes they are fine as a last minute purchase just annoyed by this fire it lying flat and the riding up a bit at the back and wondering why!!

Also was hoping to uses these in pregnancy.

I think the answer up a cup and down a back size but that size doesn't exist so I will have to stick with these.

Naked for sterility makes sense. Have had a GA since I was 11 so feeling nervous.

@cherrypiepie You can find a lot of non wired bras on M&S, John Lewis, Sloggi , Triumph, Freya, websites.
They go up to large cup sizes.

The gore doesn’t lie flat in a non wired bra, so long as the cup encases your boob and you don’t have quad boob or escaping armpit tissue then they should be good fit.

You won't be naked; you will be given a very fetching gown that fastens at the back (or not !)

You will only need your own clothes on the ward and for going home.

Why do you want a wire- free bra?

cherrypiepie · 20/06/2021 19:42

Thanks @MrsPnut that is what I needed to know.

I want one to be comfortable after surgery and recovering and various other reasons including loafing about!

I only was able to go to matalan i got the best of what was available.

Think will go to bravissimo for fitting when I am better.

Yes you'll be dressed in the gown before/after but in surgery you'll be naked and draped with sterile drapes

I had my surgery and got some special nettty surgery pants and some sexy green compression stockings too!

Then bras were ok but kept riding up very annoying! But did the job.
